Has anyone been out in front and seen all the new landscaping they have been putting in?

Speaking of the outside, does it look like it will be ready for guests on the 20th?

Thanks for the info you guys (and gals). Much appreciated. I never rode SSL, though I saw a good video ride through. That helped with your description of the taxi, video monitor, etc.

I look forward to hearing/seeing more about it and riding it when I get back out to the park in August.

Did anyone who rode the Monsters ride happen to notice any tributes to Joe Ranft or any other hidden surprizes (ala the Bear Country singers in the honey room on Pooh)? Just wondering...

I didn't see any. But I only had time to ride it once.

Re: I RODE MIKE AND SULLY TO THE RESCUE TODAY! Ride-Through Details!

What I find mildly amusing (mildly because it is kind of sad) is that they seem to have enough CMs to have someone standing around at a microphone all day making personalized comments in the Monsters Inc ride, but not enough to keep all the places in Disneyland open.

Regardless, sounds like a fun ride and although I wish they had gone all out and got people ranting on the Internet about how it was the best ride they've ever seen, I am kind of happy that they kept it conservative because not all rides can be a new Space Mountain. This does make Finding Nemo a little more interesting since it appears that the Imagineers still pay very close attention to detail. The sub lagoon is MUCH bigger and the ride is an E-ticket so given how much work they put into Monsters, Finding Nemo should be a sure-fire winner if they put a proportional amount of work into it. Not to mention the ride is underwater and how many modern day Disney rides have been built underwater.

Re: I RODE MIKE AND SULLY TO THE RESCUE TODAY! Ride-Through Details!

I rode Mike and Sully to the Rescue Tuesday Morning amongst the first group of people to experience the soft opening. I was there with my wife and 3-year-old daughter (who looks just like boo), and we loved it. We rode it twice, but it shut down our second time through. Some things I wanted to point out were:

    1. Harryhausen's did smell like ginger.

    2. We got to see two of the doors that randomly open. One opened to the poor monster that always gets decontaminated in the movie, and the other was the frozen door that opened to the Yeti monster.

    3. We stopped right in front of the Randall animatronic that changes colors as Boo hits him, and we got to watch it for about 5 minutes before a cast member helped us off. While we were watching it, my wife noticed that one of the patterns he changes into is the wallpaper from the Haunted Mansion! I was suspicous at first, but we saw it come up about 5 times while we sat there. Keep an eye out for it as you go by!
Vikings are like pirates... why don't we have a movie starring Johnny Depp!?

Great forum! I built stuff for this ride, and I don't
have pictures as good as some of the stuff I've seen
posted on this board. Too fun!

Well, thanks for doing a great job!

For all those who didn't like it... ride it, then go back to DL and ride the Fantasyland dark rides. This attraction is a great C-ticket... and DCA needs C-tickets.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
