Knotts Berry Farm Halloween Haunt Designer David Ortiz moves to Disneyland

For those who are familiar with the Designers of Knotts Scary Farm, you might have heard of David Ortiz. He designed the Dia De Los Muertos and Sleepy Hollow Haunt attractions. Theme Park Adventure has announced that he will be leaving Knotts and join the Disneyland Resort as an Art Specialist for the Art Division Disneyland Entertainment West Coast Division.

While this is mainly Knotts news, I thought it would be as appropriate to have it here since he's moving to DLR. Mods, feel free to move it to the Knotts Forum if its more better over there.

Yah. I'm more concerned about him leaving Knotts than I am with him joining Disneyland. I hope that Haunt doesn't suffer as a result.

Re: Knotts Berry Farm Halloween Haunt Designer David Ortiz moves to Disneyland

Are people happy that he's coming to Disney because they are hoping for more haunt during the Halloween?
I enjoy the Haunt at Knotts, but I think Knotts is the place for it.
If Disney needed more "scare", I could see DCA getting it. Best area, I would think, is the grizzly rapid area or even the Hollywood area.

For Disneyland this is a great addition, but from what I have seen of his work for Knotts a huge loss. I wonder if this means we will see some family friendly haunts next year?

As of right now, there are no plans to do any kind of "haunt" at Disneyland next year. While Knott's, Six Flags, and Universal Studios do those scary events, Disney has been incredibly successful with their family-oriented promotion.

Just because he is coming on board for Disney doesn't mean they will be offering anything like Knotts. Silly.

Agreed. He may have been a Haunt designer but that doesn't mean his talents are strictly for a Halloween Haunt Event. Though, I would like to see him work on Space Mountain's Ghost Galaxy. He could do wonders with the queue if he can work on attraction overlays.

David Ortiz is one of the most creative people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Having seen Tony Baxter at Knott's on occasions, I have no doubt that Tony saw his potential as well. This makes me very happy about the future of Disneyland but sad that Knott's Haunt lost a true innovator.

Awesome, Big Papi is coming to Disneyland.

Hopefully this means that there will be better seasonal decorations for both Disneyland and DCA. Hopefully he is able to contribute more than just for Halloween. Perhaps some better winter (those snowflakes on the entrance are hideous), spring and fall decorations.

Or maybe his is helping design DCA's fabled "Mystic Manor".

Oh man that sounds awesome I would love to see what he could bring to SMGG

He is working for the Entertainment department, meaning he'll work directly with Steven Davison (deadly combo there). Those things would be out of his control.
