    Re: Castle size comparison

I believe there's an elevation drawing of the two castles next to each other, but I don't remember where I saw it. Maybe someone here can dig it up?

It'd be pretty cool to see a comparison for the other castles as well.

It amazes me when I look at the Matterhorn and realize Cinderella Castle is even taller

Do you ever think that Sleeping Beauty's castle in Anahiem will ever be renovated to be as big as Cinderella's castle in the future?

Making Sleeping Beauty Castle big as Cinderella's Castle?!

That won't happen. DL's Castle is the first and the oldest one as well as being original and unique. While HK DL has their own, DL beats HK's. Making it bigger will take away the uniqueness from other Disney castles and it won't be as same.

It's quite to hard to find pictures of the right comparison between Sleeping Beauty Castle and Cinderella's Castle. I may have to look it up and upload them here.

Main street in Disneyland focuses more heavily on forced perspective than WDW's and we have the Matterhorn which also relies on forced perspective. Enlarging the castle would not only enrage millions of disney fans but it would ruin the forced perspective that works so perfectly.

MK's Main Street with DL's Castle. I did a bunch of photoshopped images with castles swapped.

If you have "Designing Disney's Theme Parks - The Architecture of Reassurance," the
cover features just such a drawing.

Disneyland Paris: From Sketch to Reality has a drawing which is an overlay of the elevations of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a larger version of Sleeping Beauty Castle that was considered for Euro Disneyland, and Cinderella Castle.

This is the closest I could find comparing the three real castles (1, 3 and 4) to a variety of imagined ones drawn by our resident armchair-imagineer RandySavage:

Note, the castle for Orlando (2) is the flipped version of the WDP logo, so look to Tokyo for Cinderella's castle.

    Re: Castle size comparison

We were just at WDW 2 weeks ago. We stood at the end of their Main Street and said something like, "Wow. That's tall!" And it was usually blocked off for some event or other and we didn't get to walk through it until the end of the night.

Back in Anaheim a week later, we looked at "our" castle and smiled. Yeah, it is a lot smaller, but we wouldn't trade it for anything! Our Park has charm.

    Oh, and size doesn't matter!

You're being quite generous. I wouldn't have put the chances as high as your did.

    Re: Castle size comparison

Having seen both the DL and WDW castles in person, I think their sizes are appropriate. Magic Kingdom's land is more spread out compared to DL, and with that space WDW doesn't have to rely too much on forced perspective. I think if they tried to make the DL castle larger it would look too large.

    Just my 2 cents

That's pretty cool, now you need to do one with Cinderella Castle with DL's Main Street, just so people will finally see how ridiculous it would look.
