Mice Chat's 7th Anniversary (includes Disney Studio Tour)

We attended many (but not all) of the Mice Chat anniversary events last weekend. What a blast!

We arrived Thursday afternoon, meeting up for a late lunch at Jolly Holiday with Penguinsoda. Then it was off to Star Tours and Space Mountain. (I'm in the back.)

We headed over to the small world mall to check out the lunar new year area.

    Here we are with penguinsoda:

Friday morning came, and we were off to the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

Take a look at the gang assembled under this sign.

Lots of things to see at the Walt Disney Studios.
One of the buildings moved to this site:

    Theater

    Animation building

    Hollywood Records

    Ink and paint

    Frank G Wells building

    Multiplane camera

Walt Disney's office was in the upper corner of this building

    Disney Legends courtyard

We were treated to lunch in the studio commissary and allowed to shop in the studio store.

After that, it was back on the bus to go to Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, and Malibu. (Next up.)
Have bicycle, will ride. Finished 2012 with 10,089 miles, 683 hours, and 482,000 feet of elevation gain.
    2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.

    Very fun!

Walt Disney Studios is wonderful. I went there last summer when I had lunch with the JoBros! hehe. I really loved the archives.

Nice pictures. When I went on the Studios Tour the store wasn't open. Someday I hope to go there and Mickey's of Glendale

Lots of neat stuff to see, very nice. Thanks a bunch Trekkie Dad for sharing with us who couldn't be there.

Wonderful TR (and from the looks of it, it's only the beginning!). For those of us who couldn't make the 7th Anniv events (I had no clue a visit to the WDS was on the itinerary!), thanks so much for sharing such great pics!

The phone is similar to the one I had in my office when I retired (except for the Disney part). Besides, I'm a techie. I left a regular classroom behind to become a technology resource teacher, training students and teachers in the use of emerging educational technology.

Did you see your reflection in the second ink and paint picture? Jimmie took that one without and unintentionally caught a few of us peering through the window. I liked it.

OK, on with the rest of the day. Next stop: Hollywood!

We toured the interior of the Kodak Theater but were not allowed to take pictures inside.

Workers were clearing Cirque du Soleil from the Stage to set up for the Academy Awards. The public is not allowed to see the set before the show, so there'll be no more tours until it's over.

We even had time to hang out across the street in the Disney store and soda fountain.

Then it was on to Rodeo Drive.

Each of us received our own personal star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

From there we went to Malibu for drinks and appetizers at Gladstone's. We arrived just as the sun was setting.

And a few surfers were getting in the last rides of the day.

The evening was topped off with a cake celebrating MiceChat's seventh anniversary.

    Next up: Saturday and Sunday

very impressive that you rode that much in 2011 based on your signature.

It is like riding your bike from L.A to NY and back again 3 times.

You should definitely do Tour de France.

As for me, the max I did in one day was a total of 95 miles going from Arcadia all the way to Huntington Beach and back again on the San Gabriel river. Boy was the tiring. It took me close to 4.5 hours one way. I got a cheap mountain bike.

It's very perceptive of you to mention the Dolphin Hotel, the same architect (Michael Graves) actually designed both buildings, and they were completed just a year apart. Good eye

    Makes sense.
The court yard is what caught my eye and then the building (when your running between hotels in the rain (to get food), you survey the area better...such as, how do I get around the puddles). For those traveling, I don't suggest the swan hotel (not owned by Disney, by the way, land leased, but Disney has the say on what they do on the outside).
