DLR: After you've ridden the E tickets 50 times.. what do you do?

So i know the AP's get their fill of the E-ticket rides sooner than later. I mean, every single time I'm there I always get fastpasses for SM, Indy, Star Tours, BTMM and then ride them back to back later in the evening.. you know the drill. I've actually found that I may have ridden them so much they might not even be as exciting as they once were, because I am expecting exactly what is to happen around every corner.

So this is my question to you. What do you do at the park after you've ridden all the rides and you're looking for something else.. you know? Something you've never experienced before.

Usually I check out the stuff I haven't seen in a while. Innoventions, Tough to be a Bug, Aladdin...etc.

I wander the park and usually some form of unexpected magic tends to find mm and that never gets old.

I just like being at the park taking in the environment. For me it;s not about the attractions just the overall experience of being at Disneyland

Focus on the little details. The architecture, the gardens, the music, the overall ambiance. Paddle a canoe, do the little things. When you don't feel the pressure of hitting all the big rides, it's a whole different, and sometimes liberating type of fun.

Re: DLR: After you've ridden the E tickets 50 times.. what do you do?

I've only had two trips to Disneyland in my entire life (with a third coming up in May, taking four first-timers with me!), so it's hard for me to initially imagine getting sick of Indiana Jones or Tower of Terror. That said, I have long visited my local park, Kings Island. Over the course of three years, I always had an annual pass and took group after group of "first-timers" with me, and it is true that even the best rides grow stale.

At Kings Island, it's easily learning the layout of a roller coaster and losing the edge-of-your-seat thrill. At Disneyland, it's knowing what's coming and forgetting what it feels like to be genuinely taken aback by the first drop on Tower of Terror.

I don't think you can ever fully get that feeling back, but there's something to be said about taking a year off. Maybe six months. In other words, when your pass expires, maybe push yourself to not renew it for as long as you can. Just consciously realizing that you miss the parks and experiences is enough to build anticipation and desire. You may not ever be truly surprised by Indiana Jones Adventure ever again, but you can feel a tremendous thrill by longing for it. Riding it after a "dry period" is fulfilling in its own right. Not in the same way as riding it the first time, but comparable!

Of course, the ride will be dull and boring over time.

I remembered saying when World of Color premiere, I will be watching it over and over again without ever getting tired. After watching about 30 times, I am officially sick and tired of watching it. The only time I will watch it again is when I go there with my friends or relatives that haven't seen the show before. or when there is something new added to the show.

I also remembered saying that when Little Mermaid opens, I will get on it a million times. After riding it a few dozen times, it wasn't as exciting as the first time I was riding it.

The next thing I am excited for is Cars Land. I will be spending the majority of the times in that land when it opens.

I was having the same issue. Then a neighbor got me into pin trading last May. Now it's awesome because I have something fun to do with my daughter while my wife's on the rides, and it gives us something else to keep our eyes peeled for as we walk around.

I haven't been to the parks as often as some (read: most) of you guys, but when I do ride familiar attractions, I try to make the most of them. I danced along with the creatures in the Under the Sea scene on the Little Mermaid. I scream and shout on Space Mountain. I pretend to drive and be surprised on Indiana Jones.

It's all about suspension of disbelief. If you remember everything, just let loose and allow yourself to be surprised.

Do what Capt. Hook does and go in search of characters. He seems to enjoy himself.

I am the same way with vinylmations. Go around the park and trading to go in search of the ones you want. A new experience everytime.

There's a reason one probably shouldn't have cake for every meal... It's meant to be special. It's also too much treat and not enough actual sustenance or substance. I think DL is similar. If you go every week, you're missing out on other adventures and experiences. One should maybe read about animals, and Tom Sawyer, and far away places, see the great outdoors, play at the beach...fill one's time with other great stuff. Then your experience of the magic of Disney is a treat, more informed, and a break from the real stuff for the sake of taking in some fantasy.

I would love to visit DL way more than I do, but I had the experience the last time I was there that it's this continuous player piano where the delightful melody never stops... when I was a kid, there were days when Disneyland was closed. Something about that made the times it was open that much more special.

    This is a great post!

I live a mile away, have an AP, and there are 2 members of my family that work there so I could go every day. But, I use DL as my reward or treat as you would call it, and then I never grow tired of it.
