    Question Disneyland Engagement Photos

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been rather absent from posting on the forums, I have turned into quite the troll. And just read what everyone posts.

Anyways onto the matter at hand. On Christmas morning my girlfriend and I ventured into the park with my family to celebrate the holiday when my girlfriend of 8+years popped the question and proposed at the Mickey Mouse topiary flower garden thing. It was amazing and I cried in front of hundreds of people but I was just so happy.

This weekend we are headed back to the park and was wondering if there are any photographers, professional or hobby, that would be willing to take some photos of us or just give us some pointers on how to do it ourselves. We thought it would be fun to do it ourselves and if we don't like the results then I guess we would just have to go back for another visit

Any advice or replies are welcome.

    Thanks!

There are several exceptional photographers that belong to MiceChat. I don't want to name names as I don't want to sound like I'm doing their volunteering for them. I do encourage you to look in to it.

In the meantime, congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon vacation at Disneyland! I wish you each a World of Color-ful bliss.

    AWwww, congratulations!

Suggestions for pictures? Use your favorite spots, and be patient about getting times when there are fewer people around. Morning and late afternoon have the best light- spend the high noon portion scouting locations and angles for your shots.

I'd be willing to throw myself into consideration for some photography, although I'm hardly among the best that frequent the park. I'll name some names of fellow respected enthusiasts, but it'll be up to them on if they have time and inclination to help you out. Best case scenario, you have a cadre of photographers following you two around all day and end up with a selection of amazing photos in different styles, lol.

Gregg Cooper is a master of composition and HDR photography
Mike Greening has a real eye for capturing life in the park
Disney Grandpa is the expert on taking portraits at Disneyland

These are three of the most prolific Disneyland photographers around; they all spend more time at Disneyland than can possibly be healthy, and if you can get one or two of them to come down over the weekend you will not be disappointed with their work.

Anyways, if you can't get any of them and/or don't mind working with a self-taught amateur, feel free to send me a PM by friday evening. You can check out some of my own work at the site below:

    Re: Disneyland Engagement Photos

    Congrats!

My wife and I took our engagement photos at Disneyland. It's a great place for it.

A few words on my experience. We were told not cause attention to other guests. If people see you getting photos taken and it attracts a crowd, then it will catch the eye of Disney security (and they may have an issue with this). Also, the photographer may want to bring in a minimal amount of gear. If they have a set which looks too professional, this may also be an issue with Disney security, as it looks like an unsanctioned professional photo shoot.

When we did ours our photographer came with just his camera, and we pretended he was taking us around.

We tried to get a straight answer from Disneyland before hand, but could not get a straight answer.

Hopefully you won't have the same issue, but this was our experience. We still had fun!

    Here's some places we used:

    1) The castle (duh!)
    2) The wishing well by the castle
    3) toontown
    4) The spiral staircase in New Orleans Square
    5) The stairs of the dream suite
    6) The walkway between big thunder and thunder ranch
    7) Fantasyland carousel (and sword in stone)
