Rumors: A talk with a CM- Future plans at DLR after DCA expansion.

So I managed to talk to a CM who was a friend of a friend, that gave me insider news about the future of DLR, although I do not know if I can give further detail about it, I could provide some key points as the CM did not tell me this was suppose to be top-secret. However if this is suppose to be kept secret please delete and close this thread.

First, there is going to be an expansion in Fantasyland (Which is pretty obvious if you consider what is happening to Princess Fantasy Faire). As for detail, this is going to be a smaller scale expansion to its Disney World counterpart that will mostly feature meet & greets with various princesses.

The biggest news the CM told me was the construction of a third theme park to be built for DLR that will ultimately combat WWOHP that will be opening at Universal Studios Hollywood in the future. This third theme park will be very different amoung the other two as it will represent a completely different franchise that is Disney-owned. It will also feature a unique transportation access to travel amoung the DLR (and also not intefere with any street roads) and it will be based off a certain city. The construction of the new gate will involve tearing down certain hotels that Disney bought.

There is no known date as to when this third gate will be opening but it could be a few years later after WWOHP opens at Universal. As for the announcement, it could be sooner or later as the CM told me these were the plans after the expansion at DCA. Nevertheless, this is pretty exciting news to hear!

I wish I could have asked more about what other plans they will do at DCA besides CL and BVS, but I can only imagine the expansion of HL with the left over parking lot that is not used up next to CL.

Well your CM friend doesn't have their facts straight.

While WDI does have a few ideas floating around for Fantasyland, none of them involve meet-and-greets as the PFF has that covered.

In terms of a 3rd gate, there were a few blue-sky meetings around the time WWOHP was announced for Hollywood, but there are certainly no solid plans or even solid renderings. Anything about a 3rd gate right now is pure talk and rumor.

I've heard this rumor on here before, but I would take the things CMs say with a grain of salt because they are usually in the know about events at their work location.

Third park has always been an idea for the Disney company.
Prior to 2005 there was even a website that Disney created talking about a third gate.
I wouldn't think a 3rd gate will happen until gate #2 can stand on it's own.

I thought it was always a bad idea to start a 3rd gate if DCA wasn't fixed. Since the re-model is nearing completion, I wouldn't be surprised if a few ideas were being thrown in the air.

Even now, as Carsland and BVS race toward opening, WDI still has a plateful with DCA. They still have extensive plans for Hollywoodland, Paradise Pier, and Grizzly Recreation Area/Condor Flats.

Sorry, a third park isn't coming anytime soon. It will probably be another 10-20 years before we see a third gate.

Actually come to think of it, it does not really make sense to expand Fantasyland and have a bunch of meet and greets if they have PFF, so it does really puzzle me. The CM told me that it would be similar to the WDW expansion with Belle's Library being built and ect, but isn't there already Belle's library in DCA?

I would not spend too much time trying to decipher what was said as it likely has little basis in actual plans. Cast Members are not privy to much in terms of future plans. Whomever you spoke with was likely just passing along rumors that he had heard, not solid information.

Aw shucks, I would think that people who actually worked at Disneyland would be trustworthy but I guess they just go by rumors.

Speaking as a CM, I can tell you that the CM mentioned in the OP doesn't ahve their facts correct.

Regarding a future 3rd gate, it's no secret that DLR woudl eventualyl like to have a 3rd gate. However, there are absolutely no plans to do so at this time. There's not even anythign in the Blue Sky stage. My educated guess is that you won't see a 3rd gate announced for at least 5-7 years, and you won't be able to set foot into it for at least 15 years.

Regarding a "Fantasyland expansion", there are no such plans. The only thing on the plate is moving Princess Fantasy Faire and eventually converting the Fantasyland Theater back into a real theater. That's inevitable. But there are no plans at all, not even any intent to do a MK style expansion. One reason is simply that there's no room. Backstage at this point is pretty much landlocked. Any CM will tell you that the backstage area behind iasw and Toontownis quite tight.

Not to mention a Frontierland and Tomorrowland inside the Disneyland Park itself.....both need attention, especially TL.
