Why were people buying tickets at 2:30 in the morning?

I know im new here, but i have to say, i never been so dumbfounded.

I was there for One More Disney Day, from 6am to 2:30am on the first, and it was one of the best days ever. But after Soundsational at 10, i realized that the park had really gotten crowded, with a lot of rides getting two hour wait times. Personally id never wait that long for any ride, but i guess it was okay. But since the park got so crowded, i was ready to leave pretty much after fantasmic finished.

On my way out i saw something that shocked me. I thought the rush of crowds were all season pass holders, but no, there were people in line buying tickets at 2:30, 3 hours before the park closed. I dont understand. Why would people buy tickets for 3 hours when the park is near capacity?

I just want help to understand this. I really dont. Im all for love of Disney, but that seems so stupid...

I dont want to get a bad rep on here as some sort of judgmental person, but I really do want to know why?

And that's precisely why so many people were saying that for Disney, yesterday was a real financial winner. People may not have been happy with how crowded the park was, but you better believe they bought tickets, ate food, bought souvenirs, etc. At least, that's my interpretation!

Have you ever been to the parks? People do stupid things sometimes, it's just the way some people are. They might have thought this was special just for the fact of being in the park at 3am. Believe it or not, people will spend money just for that, regardless of how crowded and how little time left there is. People are just nuts!

Being able to experience the Disney park after midnight or all night long is a rare one-of-a-kind experience. I guess people do crazy things when a rare opportunity opens up for them.

Maybe they were mistaken and thought the park wasn't closing at 6 am and they could stay during the next day too?

Not that big of one. They had to pay a LOT in overtime, Officers needing to come out, the almost constant Paramedic runs and that's just top name a few things. I don't think it's nearly as huge as one would think it is.

I hope its for refunds, but it does make me feel better if they were only selling annual passes.

And i know its special to be in the park at those hours, but people had to know that likely wouldnt happen since the park was near capacity, if not at capacity? I dont know.

Why do people still use the ticket booths? If you know you are going to Disneyland, wouldn't you save time by buying and printing the ticket at home?

I saw the line at about 3:30 am and seemed like the line was longer to buy tickets than was to actually get on a ride! I didnt understand why no one thought to buy them online and print them out before they got there

I was surprised seeing that myself! I hope they were getting APs or refunds...getting a single-day ticket that would be good for 3 hours wouldn't be worth it, IMHO.

Then again, the thought of that many more people getting APs makes me rather nervous.

I see people still in long lines at ticket booths at 8:30 PM on a 12 AM closing night every visit. So it doesn't surprise me one bit. Other than it being passed midnight and wanting to enter a capacity crowd... that's mildly more shocking, but again, this stuff happens at 8:30 PM (sans being passed midnight) all the time.

Yeah that seem crazy for me as well? And I would THINK after spending hours to get to get into the parking lot, being told the park was at capacity when you got there, saw the throngs of people just waiting to get in...at 2 a.m. then THAT would deter you...but I would be wrong lol.

It really does tell you the power of Disney doesnt it? I love these parks, but there is a line, a very sharp one for me. But many people crossed it yesterday for me!
