Reasons you would and wouldn't want to work at Disneyland

    Self explanatory thread title...

Would: I love Disneyland, the history and sharing it with people. I'd love to be part of that experience for even more people.
Wouldn't:No facial hair rule.. I hate how I look with no facial hair, that would cramp my style a tad.
Wouldn't-er:I may end up working at DCA.

Didn't they just revise the no facial hair policy? Anyway, the only good thing I could think of for working there (as a fan) would be that you could visit the park for free on your days off, otherwise I would never want to work there because I imagine that seeing all the backstage areas, etc, could ruin the magic for me.

Would: just to cross it off life's to-do list.

Wouldn't: too nerve-wracking. On my last visit, I realized that working Attractions these days means juggling 3 or 4 different lines! No way I could keep all that straight.

Oh, to be able to get free admission and access to the wonders of Company D...and dancing in the parades and wearing those costumes looks like fun.

I would never do it, though. Disneyland is one of the sanctuaries where I come to forget about "real life," lose myself and unwind. If it were a job, I'd lose all that.

Plus, some of the guests are downright awful...I think I'd lose my mind if I had to deal with a constant stream of rude people all day long. I have worked customer service before but Disney is extreme there.

Unions, Crappy Managment and terrible sporadic hours to start off with {if you're low level attractions 'CR'}. Other than that I would love to be a tour guide or work with my friends on the railroad.

Would: Being surrounded in Walt's dream

Wouldn't: the pay, housing costs and the traffic

    Excellent point.
It's like vacationing in Hawaii, loving it
    then moving there

    WOULD:
    -
Easiest Job I've Ever Had(I've done it before)
-Helping others have a good time brings me satisfaction
-Walt Disney is tip top on my list of people I admire. To continue to fulfill his vision is an honor.
-Even when you're working... you're at the happiest place on earth!
-You get to walk back stage!
    -35% discount! Getting in free!

    WOULDN'T
    -
    Pay sucks
-I'm afraid of the term "LIFER"
-My admiration for Walt Disney is so great I would probably hate at least 75% of my coworkers because it's just a job to them.
-Telling people you work at Disneyland... no, not the corporate side. The front side. The low side.
-I wouldn't come to Disneyland for "fun" anymore.

I'd want to work there to try to initiate changes for the better, such as restoring Tomorrowland, improving food selection and re-installing a certain ghost to its rightful place inside The Haunted Mansion.

I would not want to work there because the pay is bad, management is often unfair and, from what I've heard from many former and current employees, conformity is preferred to intelligence and innovation.

    Those are some great points.
    People talk about free passes
that's one thing that I wouldn't put on the list to make me work there (i'd still buy a pass, if I had too). Call me odd. If I didn't get paid, then I'd expect free passes.

    Would-It's Disneyland
    Would not-The General Public

(I do not work in customer service or have to deal with the general public for a living. I did retail for 3 days, and I quit. No way no how ever again. I am just not wired for that kind of abuse)

Would- Because I get to work at the place I loved as a kid and I don't have to pay for the entrance.

Wouldn't- self-entitled guests and the magic of Disneyland would be ruined for me.

Would: Because Disneyland is awesome and it would be a great opportunity to work at a place that I would enjoy working at.
Wouldn't: I'm afraid, but could be wrong, that it would lose it's magical appeal for me because it would become your "place of work".

This list really is perfect, coming from another ex-CM.
Discount and free admission (especially to WDW..and Paris, at least it was then) totally top the list.
Main negatives are brutal hours that constantly change, low pay and TOTAL lack of recognition from your superiors, who generally have less work experience than you do and managed to sneak up the corporate ladder by knowing people or sticking around forever.

    Still, I'd do it again

    Wouldn't!!!!!

My wife tells me all the time about guests cussing at her and one even hitting her and she has to take it.

The one that hit her was lucky that I wasn't there.

This has been a Filmways presentation dahling.

You know, I've worked years of customer service, and never once had a guest hit me.. but if they did, forget it, a crappy paying job isn't worth being attacked, I'd make it worth my while and knock em the heck out. Self defense.
