Disney California Adventure AP Merchandise Preview

The Disney California Adventure AP Merchandise Preview happened today and we have a run down of all that was available for purchase. Disney also offered a look at the costumes that cast members will be wearing in Buena Vista Street and Cars Land when they both open on June 15th and a look at the Mad T Party that will be moving in when Tron moves out of Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

The rules for entry into stage 17 were pretty tight and each individual Annual Passholder must show their own pass and a photo ID to receive a wristband for entry. The crowds at opening totaled around 200 but by 10:00am there was no line and we walked right in.

To the right Disney Set up an annual pass renewal kiosk, a preview of the Buena Vista Street Costumes, the Mad T Party Display and a refreshment counter that offered Fuze drinks, Dill flavored popcorn, and smoothies.

Mad T Party:

The merchandise area is settled in the center of the room and at the entry is the display featuring the costumes for Cars Land

Entering into the Merchandise area a sign warns that...

The Disney California Adventure Merchandise on display is going to be available by this weekend. It's actually pretty nice stuff.

Now the registers:
As you reach the end off the queue for the registers they cut your wristband off and send you to the next available register.

LOVE this hat except for the fact they made it a "trucker" hat. For us bald guys, a trucker hat does nothing to protect our head from the sun. I realize "why" it's a trucker hat, but it's too bad they didn't offer it in multiple styles. I would have bought one without blinking an eye.


HATE this hat.


Other than those things, the shirt I'd most want is the CarsLand CM one. The Ramone's button-up shirt is pretty cool as well.

I think its pretty interesting that they're using 1951-Alice-esque signage (http://www.miceshots.com/usr/65/7953IMG_0047.jpg) for the tea party. Or are they? I wonder if it will blend the two films together.

Great pictures Fishbulb. Nice seeing you out there and saying hello. Looks like you got pics of everything. I wasn't too happy with the selection. I didn't see one hat, shirt or sweatshirt I wanted for myself. I only ended up getting a couple of shirts for my son, and a couple of pins.

Yeah it was great seeing you too! The selection was limited, that's for sure and the prices were all over the place. I was told by Michelle in merchandise that there is tons more but this was all they could share at the moment.

I do have to say that I am nuts about the attraction posters but the prices were kinda high.

It was a nice little event. I was there at 10 and got a nice selection of merchandise. Two of my favorite DCA attractions posters, Red Car and RSR (I'm waiting for GRR, Soarin, and ToT to come out) and some items with that wonderfully retro kitschy DCA logo line with the classic characters on a DCA road trip. All the other merchandise was great, especially the made up car clubs for Cars Land. The BVS costumes were VERY nice and that Cars Land costume was actually just for Ramone's (or least according to the sign right next to it). Each location within the land has it's own unique costume (as indicated from last years showcase) and this one I believe is just for Ramone's House of Body Art or perhaps the lands merchandising costume. Flo's, the Cozy Cone, Fillmore's, Mater's, Luigi's, and RSR all have different and unique costumes. . And judging by the boards up at it's display, the Mad T Party does seem to be a strange mix of the Burton Alice and the classic animated Alice...it's intriguing.

Thanks for sharing Fishy. I'll be there at the end of the week, a little to late for the exclusive AP viewing and shopping. So I guess it's a good thing that I don't have my heart set on anything that's pictured.......

Merchandise looks good, but I'm really looking forward to the Tin Sign Series of attraction posters that they showed off a few months ago. Looks like I still have to wait.

Just thought I would post this for reference, since some fans seem a bit abuzz thinking the costume for Cars Land on display is for the whole land, making John Lasetter some type of "megalomaniac". The costume at the showcase is NOT an all around Cars Land costume, just for Ramone's or Cars Land merchandising, so here's some boards from last years showcase. The Flo and RSR design are also on display in BSC right now.

This is the Cozy Cone with a little view of Fillmore's in the back.

And here is the main board. Top to bottom, from left to right it's: Cars Land Merchandise (one at Showcase), RCT, Outdoor Vending, RSR, Flo's V8 Cafe, Fillmore's Taste In, BVS food (the Carthay is it's own separate outfit that was showed last incarnation of BSC), and Guest Control/WoC.

While I don't know that I'd buy any of the clothes, I can say that I absolutely love the posters. Wouldn't mind too much at the price point, either. Slightly off-topic: but does anyone have a preferred way to display their posters? Where do you get frames, if at all?
