What is that odd scent in IJA?

Every time I ride IJA I detect the scent of something sweet. Like Churros or caramel corn. Although thats probably not the best way to describe it. I always notice while actually on the ride. Usually near the snake room. Has anyone else noticed this? Anyway, it sure beats the horrible sewer smell at the entrance to POTC.

I think it's the fog they use. I know what smell you mean.

With the snake eating so many people every (and DL guest love their churros)
the snake is bound to permeate the smells of what it eats.

    Honestly,
I'm never smelled anything over by the snake.

Actually, IJA scents is a combination of diesel gas, gasoline, and hydraulic fluid.

    Say wut?

I've never noticed that. Nor should there be any reason for it to smell like gas of any kind, since there isn't any in the building.

The only thing I have ever smelled in there was BO from being packed in so closely in line with so many sweaty people on a hot summer day. But then again, you get that in any line in the park.

I've definitely smelt the sweet/sugary smell you mention. Ever since I was a kid I've wondered about the smell and always associated this smell with the ride. I once heard, and it's probably not true, that the flames on the attraction burn sugar to work.

We refer to it as the "burnt peaches" smell. I always notice it while we are going through the line.

I have never taken notice of any strange smells before. I never really thought about it much. Oil and hydrallic fluid I would think. I know at the Mirage in Vegas they "scent" the volcano gas so it smells like pinacoladas instead of propane. Maybe they do something like that in Indy?

I suspect it could be the fog machines. They often use triethylene glycol to produce the fog. I work in the fire service and we train with smoke machines that work the same way and I've noticed a similar smell.

The only smell I really associate with Indy is the hydraulic fluid.

Everyone loves the smell of the INSIDE of PotC.. he's reffering to the very distinct sewage smell on the outside of the ride comeing from the storm frains, or whatever it goes over.

I always thought it was the fog machine too...I've had to run a few in the past and it smells similar.

It's the fog. It it was the smells you are referencing I think it would smell more like mechanic's shop..

Yeah there is a drastic difference. The outside smell is straight sewage, and it terrible.
