    Sad Unexpected Christmas Parade?

I just read on another site about an unscheduled parade down Main Street by some religious guy and a choir of about 30 that was singing songs encouraging guests to not buy Disney products. The apparently snuck in wearing track suits to hide the robes and then just gathered and started going down Main Street just before the regular parade. When Disney Security tried to get them to stop, they "rebuffed" them? How does one Rebuff Disney Security? Then they had to call in the Anaheim Police who also had a problem getting them to stop. So they arrested the pastor and then the group left.

This is something that I just don't understand. How could these people just walk in, change clothes and then gather on Main Street and march? You would have thought that some security person somewhere would have seen this and called for backup right away. Disney reports that the Pastor was taken back stage, arrested and taken to jail. He will go to trial soon. Of course the members of his group claim he was handcuffed and dragged away in front of the Guests. I wonder who is telling the truth? With so many people there, wouldn't there be a lot of witnesses. I wish I knew more about this as it bothers me that not only are there religious fanatics who are trying to take Christmas away, but now this. I just don't get it I guess. But I find all of this very sad.

    Re: Unexpected Christmas Parade?

That's a pretty stupid way to protest Disney. They all had to buy tickets to get in! So while they were telling people not to buy Disney products, they themselves spent nearly $2000 just to get in the park to protest.

    The hypocracy is hilarious.

No matter what the cause: religion, ecology, labor relations, politics, etc. I'm always surprised that people haven't yet figured out that innapropriate, disruptive and/or annoying behavior more likely does more harm than good. Even if the cause is legitimate and righteous, acting like an idiot is not usually the best way to get people on your side.

I would love to see a face off between the Anti Christmas Christians and Pro Chistmas Christians.

Kind of like when the Anti-Lord of The Rings Christians got into fights with the Anti-Harry Potter Christians a few years back...lol

I suppose that when they ask you (in a nice way) to stop, one simply ignores them.

I'm certain that DL security wants to avoid violent confrontation on stage at all costs. I even wonder if they are even qualified (trained) to subdue a non-cooperative individual. Its probably just easier to call APD when this sort of thing happens.

    Re: Unexpected Christmas Parade?

Some of Disney's security force do carry guns. But I am sure they did nothing to draw attention to the fact that this pastor was being arrested, in fact I'd imagine that few if any guests were even aware of what was going on around them at the time. Chances are high that the pastor was taken out through the back and none were the wiser.
IMO the group as a whole was not too bright, after spending that kind of money to get in, you would think they would have stayed and enjoyed the park for the rest of the day, perhaps even bought a few souvenirs to remember their day at DL.

    ^LOL.

Does DL security have any sort of police power? From some sources I have heard that, at least at one time in history, the security at Six Flags Over Georgia were deputized by the Sheriff and thus had powers of arrest within the park's area.
