Is the INTERIOR of the Carthay Circle Restaurant actually kind of ugly?

The first voting option should read ". . . IN [not "on"] S. California."

Please feel free to post pics to support your opinion.

A visit is worth a thousand pictures, so this might be premature, but do you REALLY like the interior of this restaurant? Doesn't it look a little too busy--like the decorator tried a little too hard?

Have pictures of the interior even been released? Because if they have, I missed them.

It's fine. There is nothing wrong with either this or the marquee.

Calsig31, why bring the marquee (which I LOVE) into this?

It seemed to be a hot topic of criticism on here, and I could see that coming into play with this discussion, so rather than make more than one post I thought I would just state my opinion of both items in the same place.

I think its beautiful. I voted the second option because I don't know if it's the most beautiful place in So Cal and I'm also not going to be going to it because it's too expensive. I would love to though. I think they did a great job of recreating the time period. You called it busy but that is what things were like back then. If it was sleek and minimalist it wouldn't fit because that would be modern. And if they didn't make it as accurate as possible then people would complain about that.

I was hoping we'd shed light not heat, and I was hoping for pics & interior decorating opinions, not the oozing, creeping in of another "hot topic" from a different contentious tread.

I'm not able to control a thread, but please stick to the interior of this new restaurant here.

Pictures of the inside? Also the Marquee day one looked bad...sorry if some don't like Disney fans having an opinion but when they moved the letters it looks ok now...so I think that ends the whole Marquee "heated" discussion

I wish I knew more about interior design and furniture so I could intelligently comment on how accurate it is. (Any amateur of professional decorators out there?) Thanks for the post, TTFN92!

Here are some photos of the not-yet-completed dining area. Definitely NOT ugly.

Re: Is the INTERIOR of the Carthay Circle Restaurant actually kind of ugly?

From photos, I see nothing wrong with it...there are nicer restaurants, personally, design wise that I've been to, but to call it 'ugly' seems like a stretch.

I think the photos are too brightly lit and it looks too barren, since it is unfinished...that does not flatter or give a true representation of what actually being inside the space would be like, doubtless.

In addition, there's no reason to think the food offerings won't be killer, given the chef behind them (Andrew Sutton of the Napa Rose) and a restaurant truly lives or dies on if the food is good: amazing entrees can make up for a 'blah' interior if the service and food itself is top notch, which if NR is any indication, they will be.

I think it looks tremendous, and I look forward to dining there in the future.
"Up" is a relative concept. It has no intrinsic value.
