All rides and biggest shows in both parks in 1 day? Can it be done?

The backstory on this....runner fairly decent runner, have done numerous ultra-marathons and have no problem running for 8+ hours at a time. I want to know if anyone here has done every ride and big show at both Disneyland and DCA in one day? If you were going to attempt this when would you do it....what month/time of year? How difficult is this...I'm guessing everything would have to be done in succession, no stopping, and a lot of planning would have to go into this. Looking to do try this sometime this year with a few people. Thanks for any insight.

Late January or early May seem to be good times to go.....and yes for sure it can be done because of fast pass and getting there when it opens...and leaving when it closes. Especially if DCA has longer hours next year too

I remember a trip report on this forum a couple of years ago where some people went on every attraction in Disneyland all in one day. But I don't recall seeing one that included DCA.

If you include wait times for the shows - not a chance. Not even on a 16 hour day. This of course assumes you view the entire show such as the Fireworks or Fantasmic - not just seeing some of it while in a queue for an attraction or running between.

Re: All rides and biggest shows in both parks in 1 day? Can it be done?

i tried doing this once on a total off sunday (very little crowds) in feb, and despite the smallest crowds ive ever seen on a weekend in addition to timing things perfectly, i didnt even come close. no way can it be done. you have to do this in an in-season day or on a weekend to catch fantasmic/fireworks, which means more crowds. combine that with world of color and you are looking at a few hours of your evening being killed off. also since you said biggest shows, you will have to waste another 30 minutes with aladdin. best bet is a fri or sunday in late jan to early march.

you'll also have to maximize fp usage, which means going back and forth between the parks to nab them as soon as they open up. you need to go as a single person to get into single rider lines as much as possible (and let's be honest, additional people will just slow you down). you can definitely hit up all the major rides, but the following rides will absolutely kill you: midway mania - no fp, gurenteed 40+ min wait regardless of the day or time; peter pan - no fp, gurenteed 30 min wait; tiki room - 20 minute waste of time; america rivers cruise - 20 minutes gone; etc.

to put it simply: there are about 40 rides at disneyland and about 28 rides at california adventure (not inc. shows), so assuming a magical 15 minute average for each ride (walking to attraction, waiting in line, going through ride, and getting off, COMBINED), you are still looking at 17 hours. and we still haven't talked about the shows yet!

Thanks for the feedback everyone....it seems like this is going to be extremely difficult. I like the suggestion to go at this alone...it will probably help quite a bit. I live in San Diego so I'm wondering if it would help at all to go on a rainy day? Do they shut rides down when it rains? I'm thinking of attempting in early October perhaps. Thoughts?

You might not be able to do everything but you might come close.

I managed to hit MOST of the rides when I won a Dream Fastpass a few years ago. The caveats: I was on my own, I did have the DF, and the park closed at midnight. Also, that was before DCA 2.0 and Midway Mania, so those rides did not factor in.

Yeah, I don't think EVERYTHING can be done in a single day, but you can come pretty close to it.

I have in early may done all the rides in Disneyland, Fantasmic, and most of the rides at California Adventure (just not the little kid ones) but this was back before World of Color opened and I know that would have put a kink in the system haha

If you want to step up your challenge you should stop & eat something at every restaurant.

I'd hope that after completing such a feat, city hall would name you an honorary citizen of Disneyland. :P

Every ride at one park is definitely possible, even during very crowded peak times. Even every ride at both parks isn't that much of a stretch.

But throwing shows in, now that's a completely different story. Good luck.

??? Maybe during peak times Peter Pan is 40 mins all day....to spend almost an hour on one ride seems like a waste of time when they have over 40 rides at the resort
