Re: Happiness is using 4 Day Parkhopper!

I saw Palm Trees, and if you happen to know me, you know that I just love the California Palm Trees.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:38 AM ----------

I have this thing about signs. I love to take pictures of them. What better street to pass by on a stroll to Disneyland in the early morning, than one called Disney Way.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 12:11 PM ----------

Here is the back of that sign that I took a picture of the front of on my first night. It thanked me for coming. I guess it didn't realize I was going in for the first time.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 12:13 PM ----------

Surprisingly enough, I love these sights. It means I am getting very close to where I want to be. I was fortunate, in that I could take either Bus #1, 0r bus #3 to my resort.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 12:24 PM ----------

Now make sure you are prepared before you get to the Security Tent. It makes things go a whole lot faster.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 12:27 PM ----------

The DCA entrance looked really cool in the morning light. Again, notice the Carthay Circle in the background.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 12:43 PM ----------

They were a little late letting people into the park that morning, but I wasn't in too much of a hurry. I wanted to savor the moment of being back in my beloved Disneyland. There are some pictures that I always take. The clock, the floral, and the sign on the tunnel.

I love reading your adventures, Barbara!
This may date me, but I remember when the Dolphin's Cove Resort used to be apartments. I grew up in that area of Anaheim and there used to be a "Thrifty" market right there on the corner of Orangewood and Harbor. My brother and I would walk or ride our bikes there.

Re: Happiness is using 4 Day Parkhopper!

I have switched to larger photos. The small ones just aren't satisfactory enough.

Now, I am not one of those people who rushes down Main Street to their favorite attraction. I take my time, and I perhaps take way too many pictures. I travel alone, and when I do, the camera is out. I have noticed, that when I am with others, I take a whole lot less pictures. I like the alone time, and the companion time, but I really like looking at the pictures when I get home. I hope you like looking at a small amount of them here.

Coming out on the other side of that right tunnel, is of course City Hall. It is many times one of the first photos that I snap in Town Square.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 03:19 PM ----------

My destination on this particular morning was Fantasyland. This is the path that I traveled, and what I saw along the way.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 03:37 PM ----------

I wasn't the only one out for a stroll that morning through the castle walkway. I passed this family of ducks.

Those large and beautiful palms are Canary Island palms. California Palms are taller and more skinny. They have frawns that have long stems with folding fans on the ends. Some owners don't clean the California Palms and the frawns fold down to cover the upper portion of the trunk.

Yes, I have heard that Dolphin's Cove was once an apartment complex. I enjoyed my stay there, and it was very quiet.

I love palm trees. I don't know the different species. I just know that I like them. They are definitely a whole lot different than the trees that we have in Chicago. Especially the very invasive Maple Trees.

Love it, so far. Funny, that Denny's used to be where I ate every breakfast on a Disneyland visit, getting there before park opening. Don't eat there anymore. But it is real nice to notice something different in someone's photos that have something to do with my own personal history.

Re: Happiness is using 4 Day Parkhopper!

Most people exit the castle, and head straight for Peter Pan, because it has the longest wait. That was no different on this particular morning.

I, on the other hand always head to Dumbo. I love the ride, and I almost always make it my first ride, when I do an early entry.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 07:02 PM ----------

It took me 28 minutes to walk down Main Street, and get my ride on Dumbo. I put down my magic feather, and I flew high enough to see, and almost touch the Matterhorn.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 07:06 PM ----------

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is a favorite ride of mine as well. I rode it next on this magic morning.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 07:14 PM ----------

I was taking a photo of the Pinocchio building, when a guest came buy and asked me if I would like my picture taken in front of the building. I sure did appreciate that, since Pinocchio is my favorite ride, and Jiminy is my favorite character of all.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 07:24 PM ----------

I noticed the beautiful Sleeping Beauty scenes on the Carousel for the first time on this particular morning. I stepped up on the carousel, and took a picture of 4 of them. Then I sat down on the Carousel Bench, and enjoyed my ride.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 08:05 PM ----------

Have you ever tried to pull the Sword from the Stone? I always stop by here and take a photo of the Sword in the Stone. It wasn't until much later in my trip that I got a picture taken of me doing it. Not pulling the stone out of the stone, but attempting the royal act.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 08:10 PM ----------

I rode Snow White's ride next. I feel so sorry for this princess. She was so beautiful than an evil queen became jealous of her, and wanted her dead. She finally had to run away, and thankfully found the Home of the 7 Dwarves, who cared for her, and kept her safe. That is until that old hag tempted SNow White with the poison apple.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 08:35 PM ----------

Did you know that Casey Jr. is the train that appears in the beginning, and ending of the movie Dumbo? I love the song that accompanies the train as it chugs around the track. I also love the way it circles around Storybook Land at Disneyland Park. You can see Storybook Land from the Casey Jr. Train Ride, and you can also see the Storybook Land Boats. I love the train, but I am not really too crazy about those boats.

Does Monstro scare you? I have never wanted to be swallowed by a whale. Disneyland recreates that, sort of, with the Storybookland Land Attraction.

Join me now for a ride on the teacups. I promise that I won't make you dizzy by spinning too much. There are plenty seats for everyone, this morning, it seems.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:19 PM ----------

Back by IASW there was a Meet & Greet for the character Merida from the new movie Brave that is due out shortly in the theatres. I got in the line just before 8:30 when this character was due to begin greeting guests. She did not disappoint, and she was delightful.

I passed right by the Nemo ride, which I call the yellow submarines, on my way to breakfast. I didn't ride the ride once on this trip, but I did take a lot of pictures.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:27 PM ----------

I ate in Tomorrowland. I had the scrambled eggs platter, and some nice warm tea.

Barbaraann, I bet you would be a delight on a trip to Disneyland! My kids love that darn Casey Jr. (totally okay, I do too.) Can't wait to show them your pictures tomorrow when they wake up, and get them all kinds of excited for ours in 10 days! P.S. Don't forget to touch that Golden Apple at the Snow White entrance and make the witch cackle everyone!

Oh! And I've always wanted to go to Disneyland alone. I don't have any clue why I haven't done that yet. Although now, I would probably miss my kids way too much the entire time. A girl can still dream..

I left Tomorrowland on my way back to Main Street.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:46 PM ----------

I stopped at the clock on Main Street, to check the time and that reminded me that I wanted to look at the watches in the Fortuosity Shop. I was loooking for a waterproof Mickey watch, but I didn't find one that I liked.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:50 PM ----------

The Omnibus went by, and I really wanted to ride that. However, by the time that I stopped for a Photopass Picture, and a drink of water, I decided to get on the Horsedrawn Streetcar instead.

    ---------- Post added 06-04-2012 at 11:56 PM ----------

I jumped on the streetcar, just before it was pulling away.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 12:09 AM ----------

I decided it was time to check out the new Jolly Holiday Bakery. It did not disappoint. I had the Matterhorn Macaroon. Not exactly soft enough for my liking but still quite yummy.

My next stop was Adventureland where I enjoyed the show in the Tiki Room. I resisted the urge to have a Dole Whip at this point in time.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 09:36 AM ----------

Sometimes things are right under your nose, and you don't notice it. The Women's bathroom near the Tiki Room entrance is a prime example. Nobody ever seems to be in there either, which is a good thing. I used this restroom many times throughout my most recent trip.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 09:38 AM ----------

I did try to get a few pics of the Tiki Birds, without using the flash on my camera, but they just did not turn out all that good.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 09:49 AM ----------

I wanted some pictures by the Mickey Floral. This was the best that I could do, considering the crowds that had the same idea.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 10:04 AM ----------

The gardeners do a wonderful job with the flowers, and the landscaping in the parks and all around the Disneyland Resort.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 10:21 AM ----------

It was near Noon, so I was off to the the Hub.

    ---------- Post added 06-05-2012 at 10:37 AM ----------

I have become very fond of the little statues in the Hub, and I take a lot of pictures of them, on each and every visit. I see that I missed Minnie in this photo session.

I stopped to talk to the friendly photopass guy that I knew in the Hub, and he was kind enough to take my picture with the Partner Statue, and also with the Pinocchio statue.
