Ugly scene at Tower.

Last night after the first show of WOC, we headed over to Tower of Terror to use our 9:15-10:00 PM fastpass. As expected, we were greeted by the Fastpass line being brought around the path to the right and then a little in front of the entrance. More and more people kept showing up. Standby was 100 mins. At about 9:30, they locked the standby entrance. When we were a few parties away from the fast pass gate entrance, they shut that down too around 9:40 PM. This is where it started getting crazy. The ride had broken down. They started reimbursing people with fastpasss with the "any ride-up to 6 people" fastpass. We were fine with this, as we wanted to ride Indy anyway.

But what started to happen was when the ride broke down, they told everyone that that was it and the ride was closed for the night. So what you had was 100 minutes of stand-by+all fastpass people leaving through the front gates while you had all the angry people who showed up after they closed the gates. The scene was chaotic. Kinda got a picture, though it's fuzzy.

Um.. I don't get it. so they closed a ride. I get it that this might have been the only time certain people could have ridden the ride and let's say they were leaving back home in the morning and all... but then I say that you shouldn't have waited until the last minute to ride the darn ride.

I don't think it was an ugly scene. It's a theme park. Something is NOT going to go your way at some point.

The difference was that it was all while the WOC was arriving, so it was magnified.

last nite was NOT a grad nite but if it was oh boy, it could of been worse. and to make matters worse, Cal Screaming was been breaking down all week. Disney needs to get their thrill rides working for the Grads!!!!

I dont get it, the ride was never 100 mins during the 2011 season, I wounder if all towers are working or if it's under refurbishments.

The attraction was probably already at reduced capacity, and they must have lost their last working shaft. Trust me, evacuating that building is not fun, especially when the guests in the boiler room have to be exited out throw the boiler room doors into the exit corridors and they yell at you because they stood in line for 100 minutes.

umm on one more Disney day before DCA closed around 8:30 the line was 201 minutes and cast members were directing everyone away from the ride

Earlier tonight, the wait was 120+minutes according to my app.

Screamin went out at least twice yesterday. Once right before WOC and we all had the pleasure of watching them do a EVAC from the big lift hill and the mid break before the bunny hops.

Guest are always angry over something.
Tell Adults they can't do something and they have a fit.
Tell their kid they can't do something, ALL Hell breaks loose.

I mean how would you feel if you wasted 100 mins for nothing, how would you feel? I would explode.

I'd be a bit disappointed if I waited 100+ mins for a ride and it broke down right before I boarded (Especially if I was just a one day visitor or tourist)..but thats what fastpasses are for so its good take advantage of them!

Not exactly what I was expecting from the title, but that's really an awful way to wrap up the day at DCA. I'm sure that really left a sour taste in guests' mouth by that point.

Technical difficulties happen. And if it happens near closing time, then you're shot out of luck.

I waited 5 minutes for Mickey's Fun Wheel and it broke down. I asked for a re-admit pass and got it. I couldn't have been happier.
