Eventually guests will have to wear outfits too just to fit in.![]()
I'd expect they'll last through the inaugural Summer. After that, when Fall budget slashes traditionally hit the parks, we'll have to see...

These characters must be an improv actor's dream.
Sounds like a great idea!

I absolutely love Citizens of Hollywood at DHS. I just realized how awesome Dapper Days will be now.
I think the officer's uniform looks like the Maytag Repairman right now but I bet over time wear and tear including UV discoloration will make it look normal.

The "citizens of" don't do a lot for me. They're okay, but not high on my list of what I love about Disney. The atmosphere, architecture, and landscaping are what makes it special for me. The Disney characters make more sense to me because kids know who they are and (some) love interacting with them.

The Mayor of Mainstreet... the people in NOS... they seemed to stick around for a long time no problem
They are way better for atmosphere than people lining up for M&Gs everywhere. These are dynamic interactions. The whole point is they draw the guests in by not just 'being there' or 'looking a certain way' but by engaging with the guests and pulling them into stories, pranks, or just polite conversation.
The characters (especially the police ones) engage a lot with young children in DHS.

well maybe, just not my preference or point of view.
As a matter of fact, I'm one of the minority who didn't think that the old DCA pre BVS was all that bad. Not all good, but I liked the train (locomotive?) and am really asking for abuse when I say I didn't even mind the great big ol' sun greeting me on my way in. I even kinda liked the big elephants up on the tall posts going into the Hollywood pictures backlot.
I'm not saying I don't like BVS...we were there the day they took down the walls and I was pleasantly surprised. For me, just not sure all the hype will live up to the big expectations.
Maybe part of it is because I don't get to visit DLR near as often as I'd love to, living up here in Washington. I'm so happy to be there I guess I'm not overly opinionated.
and yeah I'm very well aware that most everyone disagrees. oh well.....

They are still making it work over at DHS. I hope these guys are around for a while!
That's fair enough that they are not your preference... but I think of individuals like these less as "characters" and more as "atmosphere".
Disneyland Wooooh!
"You see- Everybody's got a laughin' place, trouble is most folks won't take the time to go look for it."
I think they add more than a character. I gotta say even as a Kid I was not into characters.
1. They are scary when you are young
2. When you are older, they are just guys in a suit.
The actor characters have a kind of interaction that really adds to the place. I think it will be a good thing. Kids can still see characters around the rest of the park. I think it will help the whole area.
There will be characters too on BVS. Goofy, Mickey and Chip and Dale will also do meet and greets on the street dressed in 1930's clothes. Who knows they may even interact with citizens of BVS.
