POTC, HM, and JC should be E's because that's what they actually were. Other than that I'd largely agree.

Past ≠ present. I think people would be angry if they paid the same amount of money to ride the Jungle Cruise as they did for Radiator Springs Racer.

My question is, what would the modern-day cost of these tickets be? And do you think that it would reduce, or increase the attendance at the park? I think it would cause a huge imbalance of lines at the parks. A new E-ticket ride line would snake all the way around the park because someone could come to Disneyland and pay the $25 to ride just that one ride.

If you're just suggesting the labels return, it would be confusing to people at this point. If you're actually suggesting they charge for rides, that's pure madness. The park is beyond expensive as it is.

Re: What if E Tickets were brought back???

So the original ticket prices were as follows:
    A: 10c
    B: 20c
    C: 30c
    D: 35c
    E: 50c

After inflation, in 2012 dollars (rounded to the nearest quarter):
    A: $0.75
    B: $1.50
    C: $2.25
    D: $2.75
    E: $4.00

Based on these amounts, and the above list of rides...
It would cost $74.25 to ride every ride once in Disneyland.
It would cost $63.75 to ride every ride once in Disney California Adventures.
And $138 for Ye Olde Parke Hopper.

Re: What if E Tickets were brought back???

I would be VERY MUCH in favor of bringing ticket books back and charging individual attraction tickets, reducing the main gate admission and eliminating FastPass. The tired argument that "ticket books were a hassle" just doesn't ring true for me. The tickets were a joy to have and use. FastPass is a hassle. I would agree with most of your evaluations of the attractions except that I would not make the Disneyland Railroad free. It was a D ticket most of the time I went on it, and it should be at least a C. Mr. Lincoln was free for kids with a special ticket in the kid's books, but adults had to give a C. Autopia was a C and the Monorail was an E, though I would only charge a D for it now. I would not charge a ticket for Pixie Hollow. Small World was an E but I would only charge a C now. Same for Mark Twain. Rafts to Tom Sawyer were D at one point I believe, but I would charge a B now. Tiki Room was an E, originally a special ticket more expensive than E, but I would charge a C now. Jungle Cruise D. Pirates and HM are both worth E. Soarin' I would charge an E. Silly Symhony C, Sky School C. I would MUCH rather hold a ticket book than a handful of FastPasses or stand in 2-hour lines.

I agree with Bob. The ticket books were special to all of us who grew up with them. The ticket books I still have are cherished souvenirs. It was wonderful being able to go into Disneyland on just a General Admission to walk around, shop, or have a meal if we didn't want to ride any rides. Individual tickets would be available if we changed our minds.

One other thing I missed was being able to ride the Monorail from the Hotel on a round-trip for, I believe, $2.00. We would be locked inside the "caboose" (lol) and enjoy seeing the Park and how busy it was, then decide if we wanted to go in or not. We also did that when it was days before the Skyway was removed for one last look and some pictures. If they brought back the ticket system, this could work again.

Hidden Mickey - Historical fiction about Walt that mixes action and mystery with time travel and fantasy! Tweens to adults will enjoy these novels. And now, three gamebooks to play in Disneyland, DCA and WDW Magic Kingdom!

Wait... The lady bug ride gets a c but JC and Autopia is a B? Those rides have detail and charm... The lady bug ride is surprisingly fun but not worth a c ticket
Sometimes we cannot help, but be a little over dramatic...

I think this was more as a hypothetical to rank the rides today, with "a" being lowest and "e" being highest. This system would never work in today's world. But it's interesting to see what mix the parks have today of e rides to a rides.

I'm thinking that these are ranked based on amount of thrill, not necessarily theme.

Re: What if E Tickets were brought back???

[op: great thread btw] I think the the hardest part of assigning ticket statuses (aside from it being a little subjective) is that the values are owed in part of their relation to other rides. In some ways the lady bug boogie is worth a c ticket (it's arguably the most fun in its a bugs land). However, to say that short and simple ride is worth more money the detail and effort behind JC seems off. Thus, you have to keep other offerings in mind when considering worth

Thrill is major factor... But becomes slightly less important in terms of Disneyland (as opposed to six flags where the emphasis is on the thrill of the literal ride itself rather than the surroudings)

Re: What if E Tickets were brought back???

I would not like to see tickets come back those are for country fairs , the last thing I want is to run around with a stack of tickets. I like the freedom to just get in line , and if you run out of tickets then you are stuck in another line to buy more. also you might have to hear more complaining from your kids ......please just one more ticket. I not worried thoe they will never bring back tickets , that would be like using a carrier peigon to send a message instead of a phone
Im here for fun and info not be a bully! Carsland here I come
