i am so excited!!!!!
Seems like there was going to be a "but..." in there somewhere?
My "but..." is, if this is supposed to be Walt Disney's idealized Los Angeles... what is an actual picture of HIS CHARACTER Oswald doing on Oswald's? That and the wretched Sunshine Plaza bathrooms! Otherwise, I am in positively in love with Buena Vista Street!

It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".
What's wrong with Oswald?

I was thinking the same thing...I thought the whole idea was that some semi-fictional version of Walt was inspired to name some of his characters after he saw the names on BVS (FF&P, Clarabelle's, Oswald's). I saw in another thread that there's an old photograph inside the shop with a man (presumably the real Oswald) standing next to a truck that says Oswald's Filling Station. So why would the station actually have a picture of the cartoon character? Perhaps the implication is that after Walt created Oswald and he became successful, he let the gas station owner paint a picture of him on the window since it was the inspiration for the name. Or it could be because Disney just couldn't resist the urge to stick the image of a cartoon character somewhere.
(BTW, say 'FF&P' out loud and tell me you don't laugh. Just me? Ok then!)
i assumed oswald the rabbit is featured on the gas station because walt had lost the rights to that character and no longer had control of him. Also makes me wonder why one can hear the whole "mickey" conversation/explanation happening in the upper windows across the way. i just figured it was classic disney imagineering storytelling and was done on purpose to focus on walt's struggles, achievements and starting over in l.a.
Here's a HD video that I recorded showing a Full walk-through of the First Starbucks Coffee location located on Buena Vista Street inside the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café.
I love this place! Finally they have an inside seating instead of seating outside.

Is that Clarabelle's in there too? That is not really what I was expecting. I thought it was going to look more like a real old fashioned ice cream parlor with seating and counter stools and whatnot. I guess they decided this was more practical in order to serve the masses. I think I'd rather go to Ghirardelli for all of my DCA ice cream needs anyway.
Aside from that minor disappointment, the place looks great! Thanks for the video.
Yeah, Clarabelle's REALLY didn't come close to the conception art.

Nothing is wrong with Oswald, the issue is there isn't Clarabelle the Cow art on Clarabelle's, or a sketch of Mortimer on Mortimer's. The character art shouldn't be there.
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".
BTW, does anyone else find it strange that DLR now has two different places called Clarabelle's? In fact I was playing around with the dining category of the Disney Parks app today and I noticed that the little icon for Clarabelle's in Toontown was a picture of the Clarabelle's sign on BVS.![]()
Here's an overview/tour of Buena Vista Street I recorded on the 15th. This is a million times better than the old Sunshine Plaza.
The old ugly Sunshine Plaza. (Youtube: Fisheyland)

Agreed about Clarabelle's too! Obviously it was changed from the original idea. BUT I also think the original idea was before Ghirardelli was set to come to DCA and I think once that became official they didnt see the real need to have two ice cream parlor areas and it was probably changed awhile ago.
OR it just made sense to have one area for all three eating areas as was mentioned.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: 3 times

From the old, empty and cold Sunshine Plaza (Not ugly, the sun fountain was beautiful, but not for a Disney park, its more for a public park or a Six Flags park), to the enchanted, beautiful and well-designed Buena Vista Street. Nothing else to say.
love the buena vista bugle!
I ate at the Carthay Circle Restauraunt Saturday night. There seems to be 5 sections to it; a main dining room, a north and west dining room, and north and west patios.
We were seated in the west dinning room and I was disappointed, it seems like an upscale Plaza Inn dining room and I was out of place compared to the food and service. The outdoor patios are nice, but noisy. The tip here is ask for the main dining room when you make a reservation. I forgot they also have 2 private dining rooms. Food and service were outstanding. There were three of us and we had appetizers, salads, main course, winex2, but not dessert and with tax and tip it was $70pp
sorry on the wrong thread
