Red Car News Boys
Show description: The News Boys roll into town on shiny Red Car Trolleys, singing “California, Here I Come!” and other fun tunes from the 1920s and ’30s. The News Boys also deliver the latest “headlines,” in the Buena Vista Daily Bugle.

Five & Dime
Show description: Add all that jazz to your day “On the Sunny Side of the Street.” This ensemble of friends and relations, led by a vivacious singer named Dime, has travelled Route 66 all the way from Chicago in hopes of making it big. Like everyone who comes to Buena Vista Street, great things await them just around the corner.

Looks like that earlier poster was right about that techno beat. I'm also trying to figure out why the girl is singing with the news BOYS. Seems like a fun show. I just don't get the need to go all techno with the accompaniment.

Great idea for a show and well performed, just ditch the techno beat and its perfect for BVS.

To answer everyone's question why is there a girl all you have to do is read the initial report on the newboys. The girl represents to the tomboys of that era and the description even say she wears her brothers clothes.

I think the techno beat could just be a basic synthesizer version of the music. Like what they did for space mountain in Paris the composer brought a compter version of the ride score to test the timing of the ride. This could mean the music is still being scored a little pre-opening tweaking

When are people going to get to rid the Red Car when it is being taken over so much right in the middle if the day?

It's not really techno, it's just a driving dance beat produced electronically. I think if they had sampled a recording with an actual drumset it would sound way better. When somebody said earlier it was techno, I was expecting all the other electronic sounds associated with that genre of music. It's just the driving beat that makes the whole routine a little too contemporary for some folks. I think they're pretty energetic and given some time and tweaks they can only get better and become a favorite of BVS just like the Dapper Dans are to Main Street.

I love the "IDEA" of the newsies - but on the videos that I've seen it looks like they're trying a little too hard. It feels a little frantic and forced - rather than energetic. The musical arrangements are the biggest culprit. Hopefully the cast will settle-into their roles and bring it "down" a bit. If I were the director, I would also ask for a new arrangement of the music.

The show seems very campy and Disney cheese. It's not my cup of tea, but I can see families enjoying this show. I also don't like how they're supposed to look "raggity" but look very clean and bright.

I agree, they need to do some recasting. It looks more like News Performers. They should cast a little younger looking.
