Buena Vista Street/DCA/ CARSLAND specialty merchandise pulled from shelves

So just got home from day 2 of previewing CARSLAND and it was a great experience (you can see my exploits and see my trip pics on twitter @shadowradow1983 or instagram englishpauliewallie) minus one little annoying thing. I didnt get to purchase the merchandise I wanted yesterday as i though I would be able to get it today. However this was not the case. We walked into Buena Vista Street and into Five and Dime where I wanted to purchase the Mickey Red Car Trolley Conductor Ear Hat. After a few minutes of wandering around looking for them I asked a CM where I could find the,. The CM informed me that "they had been put out in ERROR and should not have been sold until the 15th". I questioned this and a manager overheard. She said that they had limited quantities of these specialty merchandise and they were pulled due to high numbers being sold and them needing merchandise for the 15th. She said there were many specialty Carsland and Buena Vista Street Items that were selling high numbers and they had to pull them all. these include the tire hats from carsland and the carsland mickey ears". While I get that they need merchandise for the grand opening pulling them from the shelves for overselling seems like a weird excuse. Oh well guess ill have to spend all my money on friday!! Ugh haha

The media from all over the world will be at DCA on June 14th to report on the big grand re-opening. DCA's store shelves have to be full of merchandise for the cameras, reporters, critics, etc.

Does anyone know if they will go ahead and put that merchandise back up for the 14th event?

Funny you would think they would have made enough to seize this oppertunity to sell as much items as possible. So the shelves will be empty on Sunday then is what they are telling us lol.

Anyone have any pictures of some of the merchandise that's being pulled?
Maybe Disney thought that because they charged for the preview people wouldn't be buying as much? Silly Disney.

Being that it was a preview, I can understand certain things not being operational, available, or open. This includes attractions, shops, merchandise, and food.

I understand the frustration, but BVS and Cars Land are not open yet. They don't open until the 14th/15th.

I was surprised to even see the BVS shops open during some of the CM/AP previews. You kind of have to expect a measure of unpredictability with regard to merchandise at this stage.

Make.....umm...more? Guess the Factory's they used cant get them more by this weekend? You think Disney would had enough products made for the whole summer already..guess not..haha

I had high hopes for scoring Cars Land specialty items at Ramone's but the coveted Tire Hats were no where in sight. When I inquired one CM he politely told me the tire hats were sold out and did not know if they would even have them in stock by June 15. I figured it was worth asking one more CM (can you tell I was pretty determined?) and he/she paused for awhile before informing me they are all out of stock. Hmmm... I'd hate to put words into said CM's mouth but I interpreted the vague response I received as 'we have them in stock but we are withholding popular items until June 15'. Even Sarge's (the kids focused merchandise store) was bare of the more unique Cars Land merchandise. Most of it seemed like items you could purchase at your local toy store.

They will put the merchandise back up, but California Adventure will be closed that day for the media event.

The will have it back out Friday morning but I can only guess it will be sold out very quickly!!

Production is not an infinite thing. If the designs were not finalized till later, you don't have a huge amount of time to build up stock. You also only build what you forecast.

Sounds like something that they couldn't stock in volume yet.

Well its always a great sign when people is begging for product instead of ignoring it completely where its basically slashed to cost! Remember DCA 1.0 stuff? So much of it didnt sell the first year, I'm sure there landfills with it out there somewhere.

The Oswald ears were also pulled off the shelf. And a very small detail, I got a hand-dipped ice cream bar on BVS and wanted the Mickey-shaped confetti and was told they hadn't gotten in the Mickey confetti so it was just regular circles. So if you want to wear your Oswald ears and eat a Mickey confetti dipped ice cream bar, you're just gonna have to wait until Friday.
