I'm not saying they would ever do it, but IF they ever wanted to expand into the Simba lot, it is possible. It would take major road construction to dip down, but Downtown Disney crosses this same road with a well camouflaged bridge. Possible, but not likely.

It took me forever while standing on the Downtown Disney bridge to realize it was even a bridge.

I'm sorry, but what? What do you mean 'no way'? Can you explain or defend your opinion, there? We're telling you that a bridge - a very extensive project like that - would be the only way to connect the park to that lot in a reasonable way to allow good guest flow. This is a fact, not an opinion. How would you build a land over on the other side of a major road and get people over there other than a bridge?

I just don't understand your very emphatic exclamation. If you want a land on the other side of the road, you need a bridge. Period.

How about an enclosed bridge that transports you to an indoor land at the former lot? I don't know what it would be themed to but Tokyo Disney sea has already done an indoor land.

now this seems more reasonable than a bridge and more cost effective

Well it would still require a bridge...although one that wouldn't break the theme with outside views.

A Chinatown, and then a Native Californian People's land, possibly re-theming Redwood Creek Challenge Trail to the Native land. And then Paradise Pier... tear out all the carnival rides and put in some Disney-quality attractions... maybe a surfing-themed thrill ride.

You can't tear down the carnival rides... sadly that's kinda the theme of the land. However, a Surfing themed thrill ride does sound fun... (or retheming Screamin' to be that).

And maybe tearing down that ugly hotel.

That Grand Californian does eat up a lot of prime real estate.

If you do Cars Land in an hour then you're not REALLY experiencing Cars Land in my opinion.

I think the park needs rides, not necessarily a land. But if it is a new land then please not a Pixarland... "Pixar is in California" is too loose a connection, that'd be like saying bugs fit in California because they are located here or something! But in all seriousness, Pixar, in and of itself, is not associated with California the way Hollywood, Los Angeles, seaside piers, Redwood Forests, the southwestern desert, the San Francisco wharf, Napa Valley and aviation are. As many others here have reiterated, if you add another land, please have it relate to California... even if it is as loose a connection as Cars Land.

I think this is referring to the Paradise Pier Hotel. The Grand California may be unfit when viewed from the pier, but I would hardly call it ugly... especially from Grizzly Peak.
    Disneyland Wooooh!

Everybody has the same idea. My suggestion: hit the land while WoC is lining up.

    But to the OP:
I'm sorry, but they really can't afford to remove another parking lot from the resort.

I actually think that DCA is going to need to work on Hollywood Land first before it adds any more new lands. Here's what needs to be done still:

    1) Hyperion's new facade

    2) Stages 12 (Hollywood and Dine) and Stage 17 (Millionaire)

    3) Muppets update (especially with the success of the recent Muppets movie)

    4) Animation facade (needs an update to fit in with the 1940's Hollywood theme they're going for...I vote for Graumann's Chinese Theater or the Pantages...But the El Capitan could be a good fit as well)

    5) A facelift and name change for Award Wieners and Schmoozies.

    And elsewhere in the park:
    1) Bear removal at GRR

    2) Paradise Pier stores (That quick overlay they did for Project Sparkle was terrible).

    3) Maliboomer area needs to be addressed. (It looks VERY temporary. What was the point of putting in the landscaping if they don't let guests up there anyway?)

    4) And this isn't something they NEED to do, but I think it would be very nice if they had more viewing areas for WOC. Remove the Golden Zephyr perhaps?
