Cars Land Opening Ceremony - What did you think?

Honestly, John Lasseter seemed a bit... inebriated. Did you see how glad he was to see Randy Newman and Prad Paisley? Pretty cheesy ceremony, but it still brought the kid out in me...

I was wondering that too. Kind of weird that the big star of Cars and CL wasn't there. I liked the fireworks they put on the power lines to make it look like they short out. Very clever.

At the same place he was when they made the Cars Toons... at home. Or on the set of a movie...

I thought it was pretty cool. I wasn't sure if I was going to watch it, but I did, and I enjoyed it. There were some cheesy parts, but you could tell they were all pretty excited. But I agree, John was a little too happy to see everyone. But I don't think it was fake, he probably did have a good buzz going.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I'm probably going to sound uniformed but who was the kid at the end who went through CL? Is he from Disney Channel?

It was an OK ceremony nothing too special. Lasseter did seem really happy to see everyone.

I felt like, "Hmm, this must be why press events are just attended by the press?". I was underwhelmed by the band, but only because they had so many great musicians there at their disposal that would have been so much better. I think with it being the opening of a land I had higher expectations of a better speech. I did like the different car interpretations of the execs. That was fun. The dancers were ok I thought. I guess I would say overall it was ok. And I was really hoping for great instead. Maybe the Friday dedication will be better.

Side note was the earthquake felt at the ceremony? There was a 4.1 near brea during the opening.

It was cute! I loved how chummy they all were, seemed like a great time. Those fireworks looked awesome, I can't wait until they utilize that for other things. And, I'm kind of glad they didn't do the lighting ceremony, which I thought they would. I've been trying to avoid spoiling some of the stuff I have yet to see for myself.

I thought the opening ceremony was ok. Short and sweet and not overly drawn out. John Lasseter was really cheery.

It was really meh, typical Disneyland Resort ceremony. I was hoping for something on the scale of WWoHP's grand opening, so I was slightly disappointed.

NBC 4 made mention of people at the carsland opening ceromony feeling the earthquake but they never followed up on it. I guess it was not strong enough to trigger the automatic shutdowns of all attractions. Thankfully!

Great hosted event. Plenty of food and beverages (leaded and unleaded) free flowing throughout the evening. Free Dill and Cheese popCONE.

RSR at night was fun and amazing. Finish line water mist effect was pretty cool. Vinylmation and pin swag given away upon exit.
