Monorail - Can any Disneyland guest ride it?

We will be visiting Disneyland in a couple weeks, and I was interested in riding the Monorail. I've always wanted to ride it in the past but never knew if it was only reserved for guest staying at a Disneyland hotel or not.

Can any park guest ride it?

If so, and you enter the monorail from inside Disneyland, can you take a round trip (over to California Adventure and back) and be dropped off back in the park without having to go back though security and ticket checks?

    Thanks!

Any guest with a valid Disneyland ticket can ride the monorail. It is considered an attraction at Disneyland. It doesn't even go to the Disneyland hotel it goes between the Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney stations.

And yes you can ride it from Disneyland through DCA stop at DTD and continue on and exit at Disneyland. You can take round trips without exiting the ride.

As long as you have a Disneyland Passport (ticket) you can board and depart at either the Tomorrowland station, or Downtown Disney station. If you do depart at Downtown Disney though, be sure to get a hand stamp if you plan on reentering the park on that day!

On rare occasions yes. It becomes one way transit to or from the park. This is not normal though but it can happen.

When I was a kid they used to offer rides on the monorail even for non-Disney guests. You would park near the hotel and pay $1 for a round trip from the hotel and back. They would put you in either the front or back and not open the door until the monorail returned to the Disneyland Hotel.

It was so much fun. As a special treat my mom would take me there as a surprise when she would pick me up from school.

    How I miss those days.

Does the monorail still go through the Grand Californian hotel and the entrance of California Adventure?

Yes anyone can ride it. And yes it kinda does still go pass/through the GCH and CA. But if you have small children ask the CM to let you ride up front with the conductor/driver its pretty cool.

The monorail stops at Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney, meaning you must have a Disneyland park ticket in order to ride the monorail. A one-day-one-park ticket used for California Adventure will not let you ride the monorail.

And yes, the monorail passes through DCA and the Grand Californian, but there are no stops there.

You just need a Disneyland ticket and a pulse. Although, judging by a few people that I saw the last time I rode it, the pulse may be optional.

I remember that as well! We used to get locked in the 'caboose' and make the round trip back to the Hotel.
