Re: WARNING about DCA Crowds and don't expect to get in tonight

Make sure you get the Fastpass for RSR... oh wait there aren't any left... sucks to be the tourist who REALLY wanted to go on it! it's now 6hrs or nothing...

And that, that right there, is why I hate Fastpass. Indy's opening line was 8hrs because people WANTED TO SEE IT, not because Disney was forced to save a spot for someone else while they were off enjoying the rest of the park!

All I can say is - Glad I'm not there - I would not want to deal with that type of crowd!

Not to mention, all those people wanted to see Indy so badly that they had to give up a whole day of their vacation to wait in line for it, as opposed to the AP's who can afford to shrug off the 6 hour wait as "what else have I got to do today?"

Supposedly not too bad. According to mousewait, the longest lines are for the Matterhorn (60 minutes, though I've read on twitter its 90) and Pan (40 minutes). The rest is kinda standard summer day waits, maybe a little lighter to be honest.

Latest information I have says that RSR is about a 5 1/2 hour wait without FP, and a 2 hour wait even with FastPass! I also Hear Luigi's tires is about 3 hours and Mater's is about 90 minutes. Yikes!!

The rest of DCA doesn't appear to be too bad. 30 for Soarin, 40 for Screamin, 40 for Goofy. Toy Story and Tower appear to be the worst (other than CL) at 60 & 70 minutes respectively. This is according to Mousewait for what its worth.

I have dinner reservations for Carthay Circle on Sunday evening. I was told in case of hard closures that I can still get in if I tell a castmember that I have a reservation. Hopefully that also means I could skip any huge lineup to get into the park. My dad is not going to want to deal with that mess.

Well, no one can say they didn't expect this. And it will be this way for quite a while.

Good luck to anyone who is brave enough to endure this mess.

^should not be a huge line at night (if Disney is smart) but I dont think they let you skip any lines to get in...even if you have reservations

If you have no interest in riding the rides (or are just resigned to the fact that it ain't gonna happen today) can you at least explore Car's Land and BVS and enjoy the atmosphere?

Re: WARNING about DCA Crowds and don't expect to get in tonight

When I left at noon, the lines for the rest of DCA were manageable and there was NO LINE whatsoever to get in to DCA, but all of that could change as people get off of work and head over, along with the standard Friday night crowd for the Tea Party, etc. I would say there is still a good chance that the park could hit capacity and that the wait times for everything could go up as the afternoon wears on.

Bummer that SOMEONE told all of the DCA people to line up at one bag check only to change their minds afterwards. Tramloads of people cut in front of HUNDREDS of us who were waiting through no fault of their own. Just extremely poor planning on the part of Disney. It all settled down by 10 AM, but one has to wonder why they bothered to try to make one line at 9 AM in the first place. Sooooo frustrating, but that's just what you have to deal with on a day like today. Once I made it inside and was having my machiatto and brownie at the Pig Cafe, all was forgiven.

I am SO glad I'm not there. You probably couldn't pay me enough to go. I understand why people would want to be a part of the grand opening, as it's a historic day for the parks, but I just don't really see how it is worth it to wade through the sea of people for something that is going to be there for decades.

We won tickets to the party yesterday, but unfortunately couldn't make it. We really wanted to go. My girlfriend owns a salon and just had too many appointments to cancel. I thought about going with my son, but the tickets were in her name. 500 miles each way was also kind of a tall order for one day at DCA when we are going to be down there for over a week a month from now anyways. Too bad they weren't transferable and ID was required. I would have loved to have made a fellow MiceChatter's day by donating them. It was definitely a shame to see them go to waste.

Is this Fastpass' fault? Or a combination of that and the glut of So Cal APers hitting the resort today who can show up on a whim and dont have to plan out vacation like a typical tourist?

I'm guessing its perfect storm combination as most of the AP's aren't blocked out yet.
