Make the Esplanade a real picnic area instead of the unlikely, ugly, concrete picnic area currently in use. Toss in a few OVCs and a fountain.

I would love to see like a grassy hill, where people could have lunch under. I know it's not practical with the crowds that the DLR sees but i think it would be relaxing and beautiful. You'd also have the problem of people just hanging out.

People would stop and take a picture with anything you stuck there though. That doesn't mean it wasn't an eyesore to a majority I mean heck a few people did like Superstar Limo.

I see DL and DCA as stepping into a movie. The Esplanade to me is the lobby. I think adding anything else would make it feel too compacted and over the top. Let the parks wow you. The Esplanade of course should be maintained as it's still part of the show. I like the open space, you can see the hustle and bustle of both parks.

They have nothing there so its boring for people and they go in the parks and spend their time and money instead.

I think a nice, big fountain and some planters with shade and seating are all the area needs.

    Re: Redoing the Esplanade

The show starts when you go into the parks--right past the gates at DCA, and when you go under the DLRR bridge at Disneyland. I think the Esplanade, which is not part of the show, looks fine right now. It and Downtown Disney should be maintained well like everything else Disney but there is really no need for them to be themed.

That said, the Esplanade's security checkpoint tents need to be fixed. Management needs to make up their minds--either put permanent structures in, or ax them altogether. But I think that's the only weak spot right now.

In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.
