Hmm interesting that some think the show would actually deter from the dining experience. I know when I went to the PCC in Hawaii the shows could be pretty loud but were always very fun! The PCC offered hoola classes, coconut opening shows, fire dances, ect. It was way fun and I could see it becoming a major draw but pricing could be a problem.

Nope. There always was a line for the dinner show, and even for the non-entertainment lunch menu. The Tahitian Terrace's popularity was second only to the Blue Bayou. It was closed because its entertainment and high-class service cost too much to deliver the double-digit profits that Eisner demanded Pressler squeeze out of Disneyland. So they shuttered sit-down restaurants like the Tahitian Terrace and Hills Bros. Coffee House, and opened more fast food walkups and ODV snack carts which made a fortune on obscene food markups and cheap labor costs. Management's later attempts to "Aladdin-ize" the Terrace were a flop.

They could hide some references to a Indy's father as a young man (as a club founder or something).
I was good with the return of the Terrace, but this sounds better.
I'll take a large Tea Cup with a side of Casey Jr. And when will all the construction finally end?

For the past few years I've wondered why they haven't put the Tahitian Terrace back into operation, to this day Disneyland still lacks a quality alternative to the Blue Bayou. To me, at least, it doesn't seem like the economy has affected guest's ability to eat at the most expensive restaurants in the resort and Blue Bayou is still the most popular of them all.

I would LOVE to see TT come back (for the simple fact that it would bring back a lot of memories for me) and then see Pizza Port close down and reopen as something more useful & appropriate, like "Mission to Gliese 581 C".

Seriously Pizza Port needs to burn! I would rather it just gets turned into an exhibit area and Caltain EO theater opened again into a restaurant, but it's not likely unless WDI gets free roam of Tomorrowland.

I still don't understand why it's such a big deal to bring it back now that they've opened JHB. Wasted space is wasted space and Disneyland is short on space I hope that they bring it back.

Tahitian Terrace, Blue Bayou, & Cafe Orleans - table service restaurant row. Sounds like a good idea to me. And the Big Thunder BBQ and Carnation Cafe are close by. I like it.

I'd like to see a hybrid restaurant like the Be Our Guest restaurant in WDW. In the morning the place would serve teriyaki bowls and at night it would offer dinner with entertainment.

Re: Tahitian Terrace: Would it be a big draw?

They should bring something back to this vacant spot it begs to be a dinner show again. They could make it a bit on the pricey side to control the crowds. I would definitely do it!!! Currently it's such a waste of space in a park that needs to utilize all the space it has. I am not sure how it ran back in the day but I am sure they could schedule multiple meal/ shows a day.

Here's a great thread about the Tahitian Terrace from back in 2006...

And another thread, this one with a University of Disneyland training guide for the Tahitian Terrace from 1963!

Re: Tahitian Terrace: Would it be a big draw?

I'm sure it would still be very popular. People pay big money to go to luau's in Hawaii. I definitely would like it personally, I'd probably go there more frequently then the Blue Bayou. It makes a lot of sense just because it would be so easy. I don't know how much they'd have to do for the kitchen and if they planned ahead when they reopened the bakery and have space to service another restaurant already out of that kitchen.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I want to share some information that may be valuable to Tahitian Terrace fans. I'm not intending for this to sound solely like an ad, although there's no way you can read it otherwise, so I'm putting that out there up front. But in case anyone hasn't heard - there is currently an opportunity to revisit the Tahitian Terrace available to you. My podcast is hosting an event called "An Evening at the Tahitian Terrace" on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012.

We approached Disneyland with the concept almost 2 years ago, and it finally came together just a few weeks ago. Disneyland's entertainment department is developing the show, which should very closely resemble the Polynesian-themed show that the Terrace hosted in its heyday. They are also going to significant lengths to re-theme the entire interior of Aladdin's Oasis, so that it really transports you back in time to the atmosphere you may have encountered back in the Terrace of the '60s - at least for one night.

The menu for the evening is still under development, but I can tell you that it will be based on the original Tahitian Terrace menu, so I'm sure there will be pineapple involved. There will be dancers, a Tahitian band of musicians, and the full dinner show. Disney Legend Rolly Crump will also be a part of the evening, reminiscing about his time at WED working on Adventureland and the Tiki Room.

The tickets are $259 per person (which is even less than the per person cost Disneyland is charging us to host the event in the first place). If you want more information, visit www.mousetalgiastore.com .

I think it would be extremely popular.

One of the really great things about Tahitian Terrace other than the good food and great atmosphere was that it wasn't overly expensive. Disney needs to remember this if they reopen it.
