Post Idea: Replace ToonTown USA with The 100 Acre Wood

So, with the opening of Story Book Circus at Walt Disney World, I have been thinking of how awesome it would be if a similar thing happened to Disneyland. I am not a big fan of Toontown. It feels outdated. I feel like it would be far better if it was replaced by a new land in Disneyland named the 100 Acre Wood from Winnie the Pooh. Now, here are the details with how it would go down:

    1. Take out the Winnie the Pooh ride in Critter Country. I have always hated it because it is shoddy and pales in comparison to the Disney World one and doesn't even come into the equation if you bring up the Winnie the Pooh ride in Japan. With the space in Critter Country, they could put in another show or create an updated version of Country Bear Jamboree (which I miss so much!)

    2. Toontown USA becomes The 100 Acre Wood. A complete makeover. Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin is replaced by a Winnie the Pooh ride very similar to the one at Tokyo Disney. It is trackless, you sit in a honey pot, and there is an interactive queue. It is a near/complete replica to the one in Japan. Next, the Barnstormer roller coaster is refurbished and made over to be a roller coaster themed with Tigger. Other than these two rides, the rest of the place is based on the area from within the movies. There's Owl's treehouse, there is Rabbit's house, etc. The color tones are green and brown. A lot of soft primary colors in pastel will be used in the environment. (I am open to suggestions to other attractions inside this land.)

I am just throwing all of this out there in the world by way of the internet. Imagineers, are you listening? Is anyone listening? Any thoughts? I doubt they will ever replace it, but I still would like to see it occur. At the very least, we need an update!

I always wanted to put ToonTown in DCA just because it looks like a certain city in California but replace it with Toy Story Land.A good one not the crappy ones at the other parks make like in Andy's Room. Also we don't have 100 Acres so why build the 100 Acre Woods.......jk
    Always read the fine print.

I say definitely not. You don't take out an entire land. People have it in their heads that Toon Town is temporary, I don't know why. No one says they should replace Tomorrowland, or Adventureland. Pooh fits well where it is. It's a ride for toddlers, it's not aimed at the family. It's just a solid as most of the dark rides, really.

Toontown is so cheap looking and the level of work put into it is nowhere near the level of work put into any of the other lands at the park. It's plastic looking and boring. I wish it was replaced with something more exciting like my proposed idea.

And no, the Winnie the Pooh ride is pretty bad. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride has more imagination in it and it was made 40+ years ago! All of the fantasyland rides are better presented. One of the distinguishing factors of the Winnie the Pooh ride to me is that all of the facade doors bang loudly when they open against the wall.

Also, anything to get us something like this:

    would be awesome!

    From the Lagoon of Liquidspaceman...
Totoro, I like your idea of replacing ToonTown. It does look cheap. It looks like they bought supplies from Home Depot. I have always had mixed thoughts about Winnie the Pooh in Critter Country. I too miss Country Bear Jamboree. I would love to see it back, but that will never happen. Wouldn't it be a nice to see, as you're walking from IASW to under the trestle big trees on both sides of you, leading you into a Disney version of a 100 acre woods? The roller coaster could be themed to a blustery day and yes, the tree house converted into owl's house. Now I know this will never happen, but we can dream. Maybe someone could come up with some virtual reality scenes that we could be made available while in ToonTown, to cover up the cheapness of the area. I know kids like the place, but I can't help but feel like I'm breathing in plastic fumes from the surrounding exhibits.

Let me say first that i don't visit Toontown much, BUT i think it's one of the most well themed and executed areas in Disneyland and RRCS is one of the best darkrides in the resort. GGC is amazing (but short) especially because they used characters from such an amazing show. My nephews and nieces love it and so do tons of kids, but i could use some sort of boost or appeal for the entire family. My biggest problem with the area is that there is not enough shade, but other than that it's great.

    What? I direct you here:

And I think the 100 Acre Wood Idea works, but it would work much better over by Critter Country/as a replacement (not that I am at all advocating this idea). I think two woodsy areas are repetitive.

I think Toontown is fine as far as theme because not only can it encompass Roger Rabbit, but rides based on Oswald, Steamboat willie, House of Mouse, Kingdom Hearts?, anything cartoon. All it needs in the long-run is a makeover and perhaps expansion with different cartoon worlds.

Making Toontown into 100 Acre Woods would limit the imagineers to the Winnie the Pooh lore. If hardly anyone finds the ride at Critter Country a classic, I am sure they would not like an entire land based on Pooh.

I think people are missing the purposeful look of Toon town. It's meant to look cartooning, there's nothing cheap about it. It's by far one of the best designed lands they made, and Roger is very popular, consistently hosting one of the longest (and best designed) lines in the park. It needs a makeover, not replacement. Pooh already has all the room is needs. It's a good draw to get people in that end of the park.

I have to disagree. I like toon town and would hate to see it go. I don't know why but I live the gadget coaster/ I would love to see the trolley come back and I think they closed a few things do to safty concerns. I think they could ad some neeat little c attractions in those areas. Beside isn't there a Rodger Rabbit 2 coming out? In the end I don't see the land going any place but it could use a fewe updates. Also the Who framed Rodger Rabit RIde is the best dark ride in the Park

I actually love the design and feel of Toontown with its puffy looking buildings and bright colors. Toontown works because the possibilities are nearly endless. Anything and everything toon related can be put there. It's not the land's fault that Disney has decided not to do much with it since its opening. The concept is still a solid one and should be tweaked, not completely removed.

I suppose since Cars Land is such a success, now everyone thinks that all new areas should limit themselves to a single franchise property.

Toontown just needs something else, maybe an Oswald ride?

I like that idea, or howabout one based on donald or mickey in black and white. I love Black and white stuff. Not sure why. But maybe one based on steamboat willie or one of the other early cartoons. The theme could be going to an old fashioned movie house and you get sucked into the cartoon, something like Star Tours, but the whole motion coaster is surronded by the projection in blak in white

I don't like the idea. Our Toontown is much better than the once Toontown Fair and it's the neighborhood of Mickey and the gang. I like the idea of putting the Hundred Acre Wood in the park but not where Toontown is. Our Toontown looks great and it's a fun area to visit. To get rid of it would be a big mistake. Now I do think it needs a refurb. It needs some sprucing.

Not to nitpick, but just fyi, it's Mickey's ToonTown, not ToonTown USA.
