What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
So, DCA is kind of land locked, only room for expansion left is behind Tower of Terror to the left of Cars Land, and that are is not that big, so very soon, some things are going to be taken out of DCA. What do you think should be taken out for further expansion.
The following can be axed with no regrets:
Monsters Inc.
Stage 17 (by Monsters Inc.)
Stage 12 by Hyperion
Disney Junior Live on Stage
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Flik's Fun Fair
Pacific Wharf
Silly Symphony Swings
Golden Zephyr
Mickey's Fun Wheel
Goofy's Sky School
King Triton's Carousel
Jumpin Jellyfish
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
Luigi's Flying Tires
The following could be taken out with some regrets, but will not be missed greatly:
It's Tough to be a Bug
Animation Building
California Screamin'
The following would be missed, but for the greater good of the park, I can sacrifice them:
Grizzly River Run
Soarin'
Muppet-Vision 3-D

Why don't you just tear it all down and start over?
Re: What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
Why don't they get rid of the convention center? :)

I wish they could, but Disney doesn't own it.

California Screamin' is a record holding attraction and is well loved, but a retheme is needed but i love that ride, i dont think its going anywhere

I have wondered if DLR would build more convention/meeting space, perhaps north of the DLH and south of the PPH. If they could capture enough business to run the ACC out of town it could make that plot cheap and the hotels to the south cheaper too. There are several convention facilities in WDW and all there to attract businessmen and thier families on a work/vacation trip.

A retheme would help it greatly, it just feels kind of lame being a pretty much unthemed coaster, if a coaster isn't going to have great theming, I would rather it be intense to make up for the lack of theming.
Anyway, the only things I think that should definitely be eliminated are the attractions in my first list. I don't think any of those would be greatly missed by a majority of people. It would be much harder for me to make a list like this for Disneyland. For example, I'm not a fan of spinners and flat rides, but think Dumbo and Mad Tea Party should be kept for historical/nostalgia reasons since they don't take up much space.

Yeah thats what i was thinking.
maybe it should be said "What i would keep" lot shorter list.
only thing i agree with is bugs land but its not because of the themeing because the land looks really great. the rides just suck.
Re: What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
California Screamin and Grizzly should not be removed, but updated instead. Screamin can get a new queue and new soundtrack, Grizzly can get AA bears and new show scenes.
Re: What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
The list of attractions that could be axed with no regrets was on point. The empty stages, Redwood, Monsters, Wharf, Disney Jr and Jumpin Jellyfish especially! Mater's and Luigi's, although small rides, really add some needed C Ticket rides (like Dumbo and Tea Party in Fantasyland). Plus they're brand new! It's still slowly growing some fans.
California Screamin' will be missed GREATLY if removed. It's already such an icon to DCA, it can't possibly be removed. Same goes for Soarin' and GRR.
The Animation Building has always been DCA's "secret place" to sit and relax, especially the lobby. A place to escape the crowds and heat! Disneyland has plenty of those and DCA kind of lacks it. So that will also be something Disney could regret if removed.
Re: What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
I really wish they could rework Grizzly Peak and GRR's layout and structure to incorporate overlapping attractions, knowing that Walt could have created a dozen amazing rides in that amount of land. That sort of plan-of-action would probably require removing the entire thing though since I read that the structure cannot be manipulated that way.
I like Monster's Inc, but it does not seem "Hollywood Land" at all. Also I do not really care for Mad T party or any club-esque dancing. It's unfitting of the land, I would rather be swing dancing, also seems like a remnant of HPB. So IMHO, I would prefer that majority of the left side of Hollywood land's facades and the Hollywood stage be removed to expand the Monster's Inc and Stage 17 building for 2 major rides or numerous C - D ticket rides.

What to get rid of in DCA?
You do realize, you basically listed the entire DCA, right? so expand by removing everything? -_-

Original plans for Grizzly Peak were to make it possible to hold multiple attractions. I believe it was going to contain a mine car ride and the Country Bear all in the same mountain. Budget cuts came in, and I'm pretty sure Grizzly Peak was built so cheaply that it couldn't begin to support another attraction.

I didn't list Tower of Tower, RSR, WoC, or Mermaid. Mermaid really isn't my cup of tea, but I recognize it's place in the park and it doesn't have a huge footprint. And again, I'm mainly concerned on getting rid of rides that I listed on the "axed with no regrets" list. The park clearly was not designed with long term expansion in mind.
Re: What to get rid of in DCA for expansion?
For me, pretty much everything in Hollywoodland can go. Other than ToT, and the Animation building, I could care less about the area. Monsters doesn't fit. Mad T Party doesn't fit. Muppets may be loved by some, but it doesn't fit either. IMO, they should rip up the entire land and start over.
As for the rest of the park, Redwood Creek and pacific wharf needs to be re-utilized, and goofy's sky school needs to go.
