    Disneyland Improvements Ideas

Many thanks to the many friends I've made on MiceChat. I hope to be able to visit periodically, but do to increased responsibilities I can't guarantee how frequent this will be. At some point I hope to soon post my ideas for improvements, not only at DLR, but also with the Disney Company itself.

    Until then, happy posting!

I'll be posting this on my web site soon.

Great ideas, I like them all! I especially like all the ones about animation and imagineering(hopes to become an imagineer someday )The only thing I am unsure about is the fastpass package. I think this would make the park even more crowded.

I agree, and hope you can become an imagineer someday!

I agree about the FastPass Packages, especially since they seem to be creating a lot of problems with the walkways.

Not sure if a lighthouse restaurant would work. It's an interesting idea though. Kinda like the LAX restaurant (which I've never actaully been to. Does it even still spin?) I was thinking there could be a lighthouse where Ariel's Grotto restaurant is and another where the Zephyr is. At night they operate like any other lighthouse. But for whenever DCA gets a lagoon show, lasers can be installed in these lighthouses for the show.

    That would be cool!

    Re: Disneyland Improvements Ideas

    A few suggestions...

I would enforce the "E" Ticket Ride Rule. No "E" ticket rides down for maintenance during peak periods.
Park admission will be dropped back to $45 and even lower on a sliding scale depending on the number of attraction's closed.
I would bring back the old "cuddle" logs in Splash Mountain.
On weekend nights I would return the Dixieland band to the upper deck of the Steamer Mark Twain.
Bring back the cook shop in New Orleans Square
Change DCA to a Disney Sea park, like in Tokyo.
    Bring back the People Mover.
    Bring back the Subs.
All musicians will be offered enough hours to have benefits.
Build the Billies private dressing rooms with a "Gofer" for each Billie.
Double their compensation. (He** triple it)
Let the Billies do what ever they want during a show. Take requests, roam about the audience, etc. Even bring out Tony.
    Open the Castle walk through.
Bring back the Disneyland postage cancellation service.
so you can mail Christmas cards in the park they'll say "Mailed in Disneyland"
Remove half the outside vending carts.
At night stop blocking off the direct route to the trams.
Fire 300 mid level supervisors; use the money for park maintenance.
Add lights to the too dark walkways.
    Bring back the Country Bears.
Move the tram stop to the middle inside of the Parking Structure.
Change the last tram car so the top extends back to cover the CM hanging on back there. This will shield them from the sun and rain.
The trams will never stop and drop off people at the far tram stop.
AP holders can park where ever they want.
Always have exits open at both sides of the Main Gate.
Bring back the Columbia's wisecracking Skippers. "Captain, Deer", said Hawkeye, pointing to the side. "I asked you not to call me that when guest are aboard," said the peeved Skipper.
Put Tom Sawyer Island back like it was.
Rebuild the Fort, put the guns back.
Change the movie in Star Tours. Make VIP scum wait in line like everyone else
Make permanent the Blast like Drum and Bugle crew that performed in DCA before the Holidays. Ban double wide strollers. Loan them two DL strollers, free.
    Put bumpers on the wheelchairs.
Close the park before it gets packed
Allow guest to bring in any food item they want.
During the lowering of the flag, ceremony and the playing of our National Anthem, assign Security Officers around the area to "remind" people to stand and to remove hats.
The Billies will have a private 24 hour Park shuttle at their beck and call.
35% merchandise/food discount for premium annual pass holders-
    Everywhere.
Change the bank back into a real bank.
Bring back the birthday ride with the train engineer.
Bring back the "excursion" train run.
    Bring back package delivery
Change that overwhelmingly PC Moments with Mr. Lincoln to something real.
Paint arrows on the ground to remind people we walk on the right in this country
If your going to charge high prices for food make it good quality and be generous with the portions.
Add additional Child's menu items to all the restaurants.
Free drink refills. The real cost of the drink is the cup, the liquid almost free.
Vegetarian menus in all eating establishments .
I would bring back the menu formally found in the:
    French Market and
    German Restaurant.
Change the Seafood Shack back to serving seafood.
Throw Mc Donald's out of the Park
I would start up Big Thunder Ranch. With the same menu they had when it closed, then change Rancho del Zocalo to all Mexican. In the same place I would put in railings to direct people into the proper line for tacos etc, like they had in the old Mexican restaurant.
Offer grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, warm cheese, raw onions, sauerkraut, at all locations that serve hot dogs and hamburgers, like they do in WDW.
I would bring back the outside refill station for drinks in the French Market. Maybe put the serve yourself drink dispenser outside too. On the serving line it's a bottleneck.
Add space heater and lighting in the French Market
Put Pirates of the Caribbean back the way it was (pirates chasing the women)

    Re: Disneyland Improvements Ideas

Dennis - AKA WB6UCE (You really need to fix that to be all caps, guy... ) - has a bunch of wishes. A few are really practical, and a few are better left without further discussion...

I was going to go through and respond point by point, but it was turning into a massive undertaking, so I bailed. Bring them up a few at a time.

Some things are eminently practical, like allowing soda refills as a regular perk at all the full restaurants, since you are correct that the cost is negligible and the goodwill rewards huge - but even as it is now, there is abuse. Make it public that they allow this, and I guarantee that it will soon be massive abuse - people walking in with any old cup or mug and filling up...

They have to keep the dispensers in a controlled area, and they really need to have someone keeping an eye on it and spot-checking purchase receipts. And that 'free refills' period should have a time limit, 2 hours sems more than fair but Management would insist on 1 hour.

I know someone who has been abusing the 'free refills' on coffee for many years and doesn't even try to hide it - he keeps the cup in the car and brings it back the next week, and the next, and the next... and they'll give him "a clean one" every so often.

The maintenance and upkeep stuff should go without saying - but then they could say they weren't told... The trick is in finding money for major capital improvements that won't bring in revenue like rebuilding Fort Courage on TSI from the ground up. Cheaper to close it and let it be a set piece.

The Billies is the only 'musical' show with fairly fixed scripting - they do need more latitude, but ad-libs in some performers hands can be very dangerous things. Same thing with the Columbia script, Jungle Cruise, Storybook Land, even the RT's on the Trams. When someone hands you a live microphone and sticks you in front of an audience it's really easy for your mouth to run off ahead of your brain and get you into Really Big Trouble.

The Disneyland Postmark would be a great touch to start again, but it's probably a USPS rule that they're the only ones allowed to cancel a stamp. Which is why they have to put that big 'Disneyland Employees Collect the Mail' signs on the post boxes inside the parks.
