When Did This Happen? The Tiki Room Got a New Flavor of Hawaii Video

When I was video taping the tiki room for my channel, I happened to catch a new pinapple video that replaced the old Flavor of Hawaii video. I enjoyed it a little bit more than the previous one, but I didn't know when it was replaced.

It's been many months since the old film was replaced. It's OK, but I miss the old film. It just had a very retro feeling to it that worked so well with the Tiki Room pre-show. It made the attraction feel like vintage Disneyland.

Same here! I really liked that vintage feeling.

I did not like the new film - it seems much more like a blatant advertisement than the original, and the music does not blend with the main show - too modern. It was too "focus grouped" in its feeling. Seemed very dumb and uninteresting. Not a good change.

I'm with you, I didn't realize there was a pre-show either. Does anyone have a video of the original show? I agree that the new one seems to be very commercialized to sell the Dole product.

I didn't notice it changed, but yeah I agree with the posts above that the old vintage feel was nice and I wish they hadn't messed with that :/

this is my favorite ride/show at disneyland and I had no idea this existed, LOL

it is shown just before the gods begin to talk in the garden. There is a screen above the juice bar with a bamboo shield over it that lowers and raises so if you are not there when the movie is playing, the screen is not visible. You need to get there just before the Tiki gods begin.

I miss it too, was pleasantly retro/60's like when the attraction opened. The new one feels like a informercial you'd see at 1 am when the regular programs go off-air.

Hopefully, now that Dole's David Murdock no longer owns Lana'i, we won't see Dole slip away from sponsorship at the Parks. Mr. Murdock is very old now and he may be divesting himself of his holdings in anticipation of his departure from the helm at Dole.

those animated characters at the end of the video must have been added fairly recently - the film did not end that way originally.
