Our experience at RCR notwithstanding, [http://micechat.com/forums/cars-land-buena-vista-street-forums/169617-radiator-springs-racers-breaking-down-too-often-8.html#post1056810573], I was quite surprised to find that many of the previously premiere attractions at DCA all had very short wait times.
We were there on Sunday, July 22 and Sunday's in July are historically a busy, busy day. We saw the following wait times:
[NOTE: These wait times were based on personal experience and could very well have been statistical anomaly]:
- Soarin' Over California: 25 minutes (5:30 PM) - at similar dates/times in the past, I have seen this take anywhere from 40 - 90 minutes.
- Tower of Terror: 20 minutes (7:00 PM) - at similar dates/times in the past, I have seen this take anywhere from 90 - 120 minutes.
- California Screaming: 10 minutes (6:15 PM) - - at similar dates/times in the past, I have seen this take anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes.
My first thought was that maybe the opening of Cars Land had taken the pressure of off these once premiere, but now aging rides that have carried the park for the last few years. However, I wonder if it is because of lower than expected attendance at Disneyland Resorts overall?
I do not know if the attendance is lower than expected, but I do know that originally AP and Employee passholders were blacked out until the middle of August, but that blackout was recently lifted.
[OP NOTE: I have always loved DCA and still do. This is not a bash or an attempt to denigrate the park. Simply, I just noticed shorter lines than in the past and thought it odd. Also I should clarify I was wondering if attendance was down over the entire Resort, not just DCA.]
