Bringing Journey to the Center of the Earth to the Disneyland Resort would be a poor move. Tokyo Disney Sea is incredible, and the ride is wonderful, but their place is in Tokyo. There is no physical space, no ride budget that could do justice to Journey. I personally believe that cloning these “one of a kind” attractions around only devalues their source. Why visit Florida or Tokyo when it’s all in your backyard (albeit in a smaller and cheaper form)? How far can this repurposing go? When do you stop? First Tower, then JourneySpaceship Earth? Madness.

Hmm. Interesting, do you have more info on this?

Disneyland has strong themes. Tomorrowland is a current optimistic view of the future, and we know from experience that making a land themed with "Yesterday's Tomorrows Today" is completely non-compelling. Verne's works, however, were often fantasy and sci-fi elements set in his present day. A victorian fantasy technology land is a great idea, and might be able to be hidden inside a San Fransico port in DCA or DL. San Franciso even fits with the Gasden purchase sub-theme Walt wanted along the Rivers of America which is only weakly represented by the Mexican restaurant.

Part of what makes this ride so incredible is the outrageous setting that the ride is located in - Mysterious Island. If you took the ride out of that setting, it would lose some of its appeal and wonder. Mysterious Island is the best themed land of any Disney park.

Also, much of the charm of the ride is its complete devotion to the Jules Verne classic. While waiting in line, for example, you see excerpts from the book including original sketches (in display cases).. these serve to give you a preview of what you will encounter on the "journey".

Finally, what makes the ride so superior over Test Track, is that the fast portion of the ride is a race through narrow caves - so you get a terrific sense of speed and surprise since you can't see where you're going next.

DisneySea is the best Disney park - with the best CM's of any park by far.
