Re: Idea for DCA Hub: Disney's Hyperion Studios

One of the advantages to this treatment is that the dramatic unities of the biography bring it full circle back to The Magic Kingdom. So, the exit of the new park would need to tell the story of Disneyland's own creation.

In that way, a guest who visits Disneyland first would understand the story of Walt Disney in California as said story relates to Main Street, U.S.A. (Walt Disney's hometown), whilst a guest who visits the new park first would understand Disneyland as it relates to the story of Walt Disney in California (the creation of Disneyland).

Naturally, any attraction at the exit of the new park should, therefore, feature: conceptual artwork used in the creation of Disneyland; Walt Disney's likeness, preferably in animatronic form; and, imagery related to the "Disneyland" television series, including, especially, "The Disneyland Story".

Ideally, the finale of such an attraction should also include a moment when the gates to The Magic Kingdom are dramatically revealed. (Disneyland is currently lacking a truly spectacular entrance, but using the monorail beam and pylons to erect an elegant peristyle and an appropriate marquee is a necessity that is long overdue.)

Anyone who happens to have the "Tomorrowland" D.V.D.'s can get a glimpse of the last remaining building from the Hyperion Avenue studios.

Leonard Maltin appears in front of the structure, which looks like a house, in the introduction to the first disc. That building is the one, which could be moved to D.C.A. to give it greater authenticity.

I love the idea's you guys have mentioned in here.

I'm not so sure about a name change ... but I have an idea, keeping with the "California theme.

    How about simply ...

    Walt Disney's California

This could help the imagineers create Walt's "vision" of california and the park would tell Walt's story.

    Great idea.

And adding a Zorro component to the park (Pueblo de Los Angeles, Hacienda, coaster) would flesh help flesh out that connection to his body of work.

I had a feeling you were going this direction. And that would be fantastic to have something with Zorro involved.

Re: Idea for DCA Hub: Disney's Hyperion Studios

In the following thread, I mentioned that I would not mind if the gold titanium "California Sun" sculpture was moved to the North side of the monorail beam in order to replace the Golden Gate Bridge: http://www.micechat.com/forums/showt...637#post423637.

I can also visualize, on the South side of the beam, a Beaux Arts tile mural depicting Sleeping Beauty Castle hovering amongst clouds in the sky. The effect would be similar to the final shot in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" where rays of light emanate from behind the castle since the "California Sun" sculpture would be partially visible from this side.

The tile mural would coordinate with those on the opposite side of the beam, and the depiction of the castle in a more dreamlike state would naturally lead to the main entrance of Disneyland. The castle-in-the-sky metaphor, naturally, represents the dream of Disneyland before its realization.
