Re: Early Days on the Santa Fe & Disneyland RR

I guess what I was looking for is WHY you have them - why the people to whom they belonged trusted you with them. Were you friends with some of these old time park folks? Just curious for more detail, should you wish to give it.

Awesome for those of us that still think the train is the best ride in the park.
    thanks Steve.

Just speaking for myself, it's no surprise to me that Steve was trusted with the photos, considering that for years he's been one of the top (I'd consider him the top) Disneyland RR historians in the country, as well as an authority on rail history in general.

Earl Vilmer's daughter saw that I wrote a bit about the DRR. She was surprised and saddened that her dad didn't yet have a Legend award. I Agreed--he needed one, and deserved one.

She passed along her collection for preservation with someone who appreciated the documents/photos, and asked that I write something commemorating her father's acheivements, in hope of inspiring a Legend award. That article in two parts can be found at MiceAge.com.

Vilmer's Legend award has yet to be awarded...

Just the kind of detail I was looking for - thanks for sharing, both the words and the pictures!

That Mickey in the first photo is a little scary looking!
