Opinions on Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

I have just returned from the parks and I must say that I was humbled by the attention to detail that was paid to the construction of the new Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue ride that replaced the disastrous Superstar Limo.

The queue outside the building leaves much to be desired but once inside there are subtle sprinklings of monster themed items that leads to a familiar ride vehicle, but a new ride.

Children and parents alike will find repeat visits to this attraction a chance to see a new effect that may have been missed the last time around. In no way did Disney skimp on the reconstruction of this monstrous addition to the Hollywood Back Lot.

While visiting with friends, we traveled the streets of Monstorpolis with children from the ages of 2 to 29 and all found wonder and delight in this attractions many attributes.

I, for one endorse this attraction!

Cheers to Mike & Sully for rescueing this part of the park from 'smoker corner' oblivion. I agree that the line ain't much, but I'm glad they took that money and put it inside the ride instead. The ride is an instant classic.

ORWEN: Oh! I just LOVE the new Monsters Inc. attraction at DCA!! Us Cauldron girls got a chance to ride it for the first time just last week! It was almost as good as eating a Krispy Kreme donut fresh out of the baker's oven!! It made me feel....all....warm and fuzzy inside!

ORDDU: It made me feel positively beautiful! For the first time in my life, I was able to ride something that wasn't filled with animatronics figures who were cuter or more lovely than I was...

ORGOCH: Yeah, that's a first, ain't it? Anyways, fer me it made me feel like I was back home in Morva--since the critters inside MONSTERS STINK was just like the folks we's got back in the Land a Prydain!!!

Love Monster's Inc. Only one quip-- couldn't Boo on top of Randall be a little more... animated? It's a little unclear that she's bonking him on the head repeatedly. :P

Otherwise, it's on par with Peter Pan in dark ride quality, but LONGER. Almost wish this was in Fantasyland... although it might be a little out of place since it's not a "classic".

When I rode for its "soft" opening earlier in December the Boo bonking Randall was said to be broken. Her arms weren't moving at all but you could hear "bonk bonk".

Is it still not working?

ORDDU: Another reason this attraction wouldn't fit well inside Disneyland's Fantasyland is because it's a bit on the contemporary side and too modern for the old world classics. Aside from that, DCA really NEEDS a ride like this to attract people past its own turnstyles.

Had the opportunity to ride it on New Years Day - Fabulous.

I know there will be whiners unhappy because money was spent on something but an E Ticket but this is a solid addtion to a park with little to be excited about. I look forward to repeated rides to take in all the details that I missed the first time!

We rode it on Day-after-Christmas Monday, and it was a marked improvement from SSL. It's Very Good, verging on Great, but it gets that appelation after I ride it a few times and just keep spotting new stuff every trip.

I wouldn't go as far as "Instant Classic", but I can guarantee that unlike it's predecessor you won't lose IQ Points just by riding it.

One thing, though: Did anyone hear a reason why the Show Effects were quitting mid-day every day? We got sent away and had to come back a few hours later, and I half-jokingly (but only half, mind you) said to aim a box fan at every piece of audio or controls gear that can't possibly be overheating, and when it stops happening...

Got to go on it today 1/4 , My wife and I loved it plus my 7 yr old that it was really cool he wanted to ride it again!!!

my reaction was *shrug*. It's a dark ride ...sort of...I waited 30 min to experience it and have no deisre to go on it agagin...unless it was walk on or a five min wait. That being said,....I rarely go on the dark rides at DL either...
