In hind site is Toontown that bad?

When Toontown opened I thought it was a cheap kiddie land. Since then WDI has built Toontown Faire, Dinoland USA, a bugs land, and Toy Story Playland. All of these lands were designed (except maybe Dinoland USA since it has CTX/ Dinosaur) for the younger crowd. All have slightly cheap theming and many of the rides are carny style rides. Toontown is the only "kiddie land" that has a quality dark ride, no spinners/ bouncy rides, and has no out of place character shaped ride vehicles (Benny the cab fits a lot better than riding inside of Lady bugs head). The theming of Toontown is superb with multiple sight gags, interactive elements, and toony architectured buildings. So in hind sight original Toontown (which had Goofy's bounce house, Donald's boat with working effects, and chip and Dale's tree house slide) is really the best kiddie land they have built in the post Walt era. Just wondering if anyone else has had their opinion of Toontown change over the years.

I've actually always loved Toontown. It's one of my favorite themed lands in the park. I do miss some of the things you listed that aren't operating anymore, but I feel like RRCS totally holds the land together pretty well. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing another dark ride in there though. Maybe something a la Epic Mickey.

A land where half of the walkthough having nothing to look at....a small coaster and a good Dark ride and...a very long line for a meet and greet?

Call me crazy but the space is being under used...if it had like 2 more dark rides and another outdoor ride sure keep it...but it's just a sad shell of a once good land that has not gotten anything new in years

It's one of my favorite lands. The themeing is excellent, and I like all the interactive things and sight gags. The only problem is I have nothing to do clear back there except ride Roger Rabbit. It's a great dark ride, i just wish Toontown was more. If they could expand on what they've already created, I'd be pink as punch!

Toontown was better before the lawyers took away Goofy's Bounce House, Donald's Boat, and Chip 'n Dale's Acorn Slide. Those 3 things gave kids more to do and made the land a bit more complete feeling. Now when I walk through the area, all I can do is think how sad it has become. Don't get me wrong...I still like the theming and I think Roger's is a great ride. It's just that the land has become so diminished.

    OP I agree completely.

At its opening Mickey's ToonTown was better, the fun stuff listed above plus Jolly Trolley made it lively and fresh and fun.

I'd still show it to a visitor whose home park is DL Paris, and not be embarrassed like fore mentioned Bugs Land, Toy Story Land, etc.

    Hi Pizzapants!

I only wish it could have opened later as part of DCA 1.0

    Where Hollywood Pictures Backlot is.

Behind a brick wall next to Hollywood.

Its redundant next to Fantasyland but would have been a way to include Disney characters in the second park from the beginning.

Being guaranteed a family photo with Mickey is more important to some families than any individual attraction. For the once in a lifetime visitors, this is a nice way to present Mickey to them, it doesn't feel like a sales booth.

There are two ways to look at MTT.

Is it for kids or adults? Kids and partents like the play area and meet and greets, teens to adults like the 2 rides. Teens to Adults find it lacking in rides, kids find it lacking in the rest with thier parents supporting thier view.

A large lack of understanding on this board is not everyone is like you. RCTT, FFF, MTT, TSI, these are some of the most important areas in the parks for the biggest group of visitors, families. Kid rides and play area where they can have a great time and thier parents can relax.

MTT IMO is a bit lacking, mostly because I realize the downgrading that Grin Without a Cat mentioned. My niece and nephew love it but don't know what they are missing, so ignorance is bliss for them

I read that the Roger Rabbit ride was actually supposed to be a Winnie the Pooh ride...Imagine how that would have changed everything...or still could.

Agreed. It is just so much less than it used to be. I was there a week ago. My kids, 9 and 7 wanted to go up Chip and Dale's Treehouse. I figured I could have a few minutes to sit and rest. I hadn't even sat down and they were done already. All there was there was a stairway up and down. That kind of sums up Toontown now. There's just no "there" there.

That's fine in good if they want to make a meet and greet...but that area along with Minnie's is stilling on enough land for a Dark Right.....I'd Redo the land by Putting Mickey's Meet and Greet in the City Hall

Let the other toons walk around the land like normal....and then Build a new Mickey Dark ride and on the other side where Goofy and Donald's are make a new interactive ride

Then make Chip N Dales Tree House into some sort of outdoor ride and touch up the land making more things interactive then I could live with it....but as is...there is TOO much land taken up for not that much to do

It would cost them next to nothing to have tons of characters cavalcade and do a song and dance in the streets.

Re: In hind site is Toontown that bad?

I think putting a major destination ride (e-ticket) in Toontown would be genius, it would spread out the park even more...if there was an area of Disneyland that some people don't even go it would be ToonTown and a major ride back there would increase the foot traffic there and it would also make other areas less crowded.

Re: In hind site is Toontown that bad?

^the only problem with Toontown...are fireworks...the land is closed by 8:30 and I guess could reopen at like....maybe 10 at the earliest

With a new E ticket with 2 hour lines...it would just piss people off to have to tell them they can't wait in line after 6 PM because of Fireworks
