Riding integration

Disneyland used to do something unique. Rides were integrated with each other. I always thought that was so cool. Moving forward, will DL continue this tradition? Somehow, I doubt this. That's sad. Anyways, some examples:

PeopleMover running through ATIS/Star Tours queue area.
PeopleMover "spying" on Space Mountain riders.
PeopeMover running through CircleVision queue area. (Note how the PM was always running through something or above you. It really made the land alive! See a pattern here?)
Train running through Splash Mountain
Train running through IASW facade
Casey Jr running through Storybook
Skyway running through Matterhorn

What else am I missing here? (Both past and present)

Great post. I think this was Walt's idea and really adds to the cohesiveness of DLR and keeps the excitement going between rides. I guess it must be too hard to do these days.

Splash dips into the Rivers of America, doesn't it? For that matter, the Canoes, Rafts and Mark Twain are all interwoven.

All the green water in the resort is integrated: Castle Moat, Rivers of America, Jungle Cruise.

When Indy was originally conceived, it was to have allowed both the Jungle Cruise and the Train to peek into the showroom.

Love this about Disneyland! One of my favorite elements that I wish Imagineering would still do more of these days around!

One of my favorite photos of all time is one that shows, in one shot, the people mover, monorail, skyway, autopia cars, and submarines all in action. This must have been something to see back in the day.

I'd add the Monorail giving you a birds-eye look at many attractions that you wouldn't otherwise have seen from that angle. I mean, they could have made it a simple loop. It even took you through the parking lot and up to part of the Disneyland Hotel. I am glad they kept the integration into DCA and DTD when they built DCA.

Probably because of the problems it causes. Just look at the subs, autopia, monorail dilema. It becomes near impossible to upgrade, change, or improve attractions without affecting the others.

^^ I saw an incredible picture of this concept in The Art of Disneyland by Jeff Kurtti. Along with the Jungle Cruise and Train peaking in, I believe that there was an additional ride in some sort of mine cart featured in the picture.

That makes sense, and today's OSHA would definitely make it more troublesome with their regulations on guest and crew safety every inch of the layout. I do agree with ScottG, this was what makes Disney so special to me. All the intertwining (Blue Bayou as well) made it all so magical.

Yep it was originally to have a mine Rollercoaster in the same showbuilding.

I brought up this same issue as op did a while back and wished they kept doing this distinct disney attraction feature...but then I remembered how because of it, we're most likely never going to replace autopia. IMO its not really worth it. At least in the long run.
