    I ate a grape!

We were getting off at the Tomorrowland station walking by the Autopia Queue, and I noticed the grapes.
They were nice and purple, so I reached out and picked one and ate it.

Worse yet I let my twelve year old do the same.

    Am I a horrible parent?

It was really tasty, but I have no idea what kind of pesticide I ingested.
    So far no ill effects.

......and you lived to tell us all about it.

Purple grapes are so much better than green ones. Especially when they have no seeds.

GRAPE STEALER!!! You should be just fine. They wouldn't put them within reach if they were harmful .

This is where the only true Disney grapes come from: Silverado Vineyards

If everyone thinks they should eat a grape, or pull leave off a tree, or pick a flower in Disneyland, it wouldn't take long for the botanicals to be gone. Nice people respect others and don't take things that more people can enjoy.

I ate a bug once while on a ride. Not too hard to do. Got extra protein for free. Everyone should tank up on free bugs.

Insinuating that the OP isn't a "nice and respectful" person is ridiculous. The botanicals have survived just fine for over 50 years, it's going to be alright.

With the waste (human and otherwise) that is tossed in the planters, all I can say is... bon appetit.

Does this qualify as a shameful Disney secret?

Maybe. But for me it qualifies more as something at Disneyland that makes me mad. I don't know why but for some reason this really rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's because my family owns average of commercial produce throughout California and picking roadside produce is in effect stealing and is punishable by law. (And in fact lots of money does get lost from people doing this).

But at the same time I know this is irrational because Disney doesn't sell the produce grown there and so this wouldn't apply. Although I would worry about the high amount of pesticides that they use. There is no way the fruit would look that pristine without it.

I sure hope you've recovered from this position.

I think it could. Surprised that someone found something to eat for free.

I once ate a guava that my mother got me from the exit of Autopia. This was about five years ago.
