We're planning to visit Disneyland Resort in mid August, I'm going with my mother and two friends. Before all the shows and attractions are planning to close down for their refurbishments. I'm currently suffering from Disneyland withdrawals! I sure miss the place, it's been a while. My last visit was back in December of 2011, I'm very eager to go this late summer.
So how large is the crowd? I hope it won't be too crowded.
Go before the AP's can come back..or when they are blocked out MANY have not gone to Carsland yet

Also, the best time to go is on weekdays or weekends?
I call the "Ask Otto" number a few times every day to see how busy it is, and it seems like the least crowded day (for wait times) is Tuesday.Quote:

I always avoid Disneyland in the summer because of the crowds. I love going in March, April, October, and November. The only downside is the off-peak season schedules for entertainment (like Fantasmic only going Friday-Sunday) and the parks don't have extended hours but it happens. I remember my last summer visit to DLR was back in 2010 during the second event of Summer Nightastic. I went for three days with the great 3-day summer promotion tickets. It was a lot of fun at that time and still is. It was crowded, but not too crowded! It was hot, but it wasn't that bad.

My son who goes to a parochial school in Lakewood starts school this coming Monday, on the 20th. LAUSD starts school on August 27, which is earlier than normal.
I am hoping this means that the off season will be starting sooner than usual.
It's the 15th so I think mid August is already here...
Wow. My cousins out in California never started school before Labor Day. They used to make fun of me because out here in Colorado they send kids back in the middle of August.Quote:

All AP's are active starting the 20th, it's gonna be crowded, the last time all AP's were active was the end of June
This weekend is the last weekend before the AP holders come back. Saturday, Deluxe AP's blocked out so that might be a good time to go. If you can't make it as soon as this week and plan to go next week, you should prob use August 25th Saturday for Cars Land as both Socal and Select are blocked out, so at least you only have the Deluxe AP holders to deal with. I can only imagine what it would be like when all AP holders come back... But this week I've seen the shortest wait times at Cars Land like 10-minute and 30-minute actual wait at Mater's and Luigi's respectively. I've seen RSR go down to like 90 minutes during the hottest hours (like around 2pm).
