Question Crowds on 1/16 MLK Day.

I was planning to go to DCA (and DL if not crowded) on 1/16. Its MLK day but I doubt alot of people have that day off and I believe school have already started by then. What do you guys think? I really want to bring my small kids to ride Monster Inc and jsut get out for the day to visit DCA. We all have AP so no worries on buying tickets. =P Anythign new ?

Hard to tell. I went last year and it was pretty busy but tolerable. Nobody can predict what this MLK day will bring but I'm sure it will be busier than usual.

Most of the schools are closed that day, I know the Wolfette's is. Could be like Veteran's Day and be totally nuts, or then again, if could just be very busy.

I am hoping it will be less crowded than Veteran's Day as we put off our trip because of the lack of area hotels available and boy were we glad we did after reading that the park went on restricted admittance that day!
I've been checking the hotels as a guage and see that the Disneyland Hotel still has available rooms (at least as of yesterday), so even though there might be a lot of locals (SoCal APers are blocked, BTW), the out-of-town crowd seems to be staying away.

I just can't see it getting to Veteran's Day level. Everyone and their mother had the day off, not just the kids. MLK is a little different, not everyone gets the day off. I was there on the dreaded V-day and will never forget the chaos - @ DCA when the DL gates closed. Oh the humanity!

True, but I don't think most parents do. So that could help the crowds some.

Re: Crowds on 1/16 MLK Day.

I was going to try to do a trip for the MLK weekend (alas, it just isn't in the budget *sigh*). I was checking into hotel rooms and was suprised to see almost every close hotel had rooms available. Even The Carousel Inn, which seems like is always sold out lately. I also noticed that the prices were not as high as the last weekend in February (Rodeo here in Tucson - kids have the 23rd-24th off, yes we are still such a cowboy town) So, I would gues that it is going to be bearable.

Today=average, non-holiday Thursday. It took us about 40 minutes just to get through security and into DCA. We waited, in all, about an hour start to finish for Monsters Inc.

Ya takes your chances, either way!

I got my first AP on that day and it wasn't busy. I ahven't been since, but the DL hotel was only $89 a night for that sunday so maybe it won't be to bad if they are whoring rooms out. Regardless I will be there...

Re: Crowds on 1/16 MLK Day.

Will there be any crowds? Well, let's see.

It's a holiday, many people chose to skip work and make their kids miss a day of school (not that that's important or anything), and people get the same idea thinking that no one will be there because people are supposed to be at work and kids are supposed to be in school, so of course Disneyland won't be crowded on Martin Luther King Day. Nobody can predict the future, no one can tell you how the crowds "will" be. If you get there and it's crowded, oh well, tough luck, just deal with it and have fun anyway, it's Disneyland.

What about the day after MLK? My kids get a "teacher prep day" off .....
