Also Disney's job is to appeal to the largest number of guests, not individuals or small groups, and from the numbers hitting the turnstiles every day, they are succeeded.
By the logic of not adding significant new value to the parks, when was the last significant improvement to gasoline created, or a loaf of bread, or... Yet we have seen these products increase in price over time. While many may not like it, it is a simple formula - supply and demand. And if Disney does not meet someone's value for price, it is also very simple, find somewhere else to spend their entertainment dollars.
I gave an example of a how a while industry selling a BETTER product for less then they used to....it's not entitled of me to want MORE rides for the price increases
Sure they put the effect in like Walt did then sure raises prices but rides like Buzz and Pooh do no not warrant higher prices...and lets not forget up until they started to give out FREE tickets there were starting to fall...and unless they are planing on opening a new E ticket in the next 4 years...the pattern will happen again and they'll lose many people because of the higher prices
And remember ticket prices is not how they make the big bucks its having the people in there buying food, drinks ad toys
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
Many people would like to drive a Mercedes, Porche, Ferrari, Bentley, insert your dream car, etc. Not everyone has the means to afford buying one at the asking price.
I'd love to have a new Ferrari for $20K. Why can't they price one for me at that price??? Other cars are priced at $20K. I want the car I want priced where I feel it is reasonable.
Prices are set to maximize profits without causing the business to shrink.
I've said it before in other threads... if Disney was setting their prices so high that there wasn't enough of a customer base to be profitable, they would be going out of business. If Ferrari priced their cars such that no one would buy them then they would go out of business.
Of course I would like it if Disney didn't keep raising prices. And yes there could come a point at which I would chose not to pay Disney.
Not everyone's maximum price point is the same. Many Disney fans don't feel they have to ever quit even if their personal maximum price point is reached.
Rule #1 - Not everyone can always afford what they want.
Rule #2 - Everyone is not always entitled to everything they want.
Rule #3 - Whining and complaining does not change Rules #1 and #2
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
1) Cars are not theme parks
2) I guess any sort of criticism now days is whining now can't say we think the prices increases are not justified without being called "entitled" when it a fair question
3) Disneyland becomes something anyone could strive to go to...not a luxury car
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
After seeing cars land I'd be happy with them raising prices more if they keep on putting in quality like that. The quality, less crowded experience is worth it.
Check out the VIP Universal studios Hollywood prices and hotel prices. For a half day park, they are defiantly making a better experience for wealthy vistors.
Disney world is offering some great deals out of desperation. Disney doesn't offer any hotel I'm interested in yet at Disneyland. There is still huge family hotel rooms for around $100 a night that are closer in distance than Disney hotel rooms. Closer to the front gates than the walk from many Disney world resort hotel rooms to their ghetto resort busses you have to wait for. I spend my time there in the park or sleeping so the only thing a Disney hotel would do for me is get me in the parks an hour early.
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
My only gripe with Disneyland ticket prices is the big gap between a 5 day parkhopper and an Annual Pass. The dollar amount is $179. The gap should be smaller in my opinion. I average 7 day vacation trips, and wish a 7 day parkhopper was offered.
I do the best I can when planning a trip. There's 4 basic things to save for.
Tickets
Lodging
Airfare
Food/Souvenirs.

Perhap because I don't think it's a fair question. The question of ticket prices encompasses a great deal more that just what new e-ticket rides have been placed in the park. And Disney is free to depend what it believes is a fair price, and from what I've seen at the turnstiles, there are a lot of people who agree that it's a fair price.

Why is Disneyland any different than any other goals that people CHOOSE based on their own situation, desires or interest?
Can all the poor starving people around the world strive to go to Disneyland? And because "anyone" can strive to go to Disneyland, does Disneyland have to accommodate "anyone" when chosing how to conduct business?

No its fair to say....why is DCA as much as Disneyland if it has half as much to do? They are free to raises prices of course they are but does not mean the prices are fair and are what they should be
Disney should have standards set...if we raises prices...THIS much we need to add this much to the parks..that's fair
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
If someone is upset about the prices I feel they have a right too as much as Disney has a right to raise prices.
People dream of going to Disney. I don't see it as whining or complaining at all. Disney will have a great demand and will continue to raise prices, doesn't mean the price is still overpriced or ridiculous.
Glad many are just uneffected by these price changes, and sad that many are. Maybe if some got to the point where they couldn't afford a trip like they usually could, they wouldn't see it as whining so much. I doubt Disney needs more money, they just want more money. But they are a buisness, so like I said I feel they have their right to charge whatever they want and many have their right to be upset with it.
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
DL is a car if your choice is to lease a Ferrari for a year for, say, $649, or you can rent a Ferrari for one day for, say, $125.
Only one solution to this problem.
Re: Disneyland ticket prices? Really?
Where are all these people when the issue of universal health insurance comes up in this country? ...when I am working for the food bank just to get our residents fed on a weekly basis? ...when I lend a hand to our blanket drive?
These are things I feel ppl are entitled to, and the DLR entitlement mentality would really come in handy when I am working on the above mentioned projects in my community and country. If you read the 10,000 threads on this subject (DLR price), you'd think the USA would have more social programs.
DLR is not a need and nothing is fair. The simple S&D laws are not seen by many ppl who are blinded by their want/addiction/entitlement of DLR.

A big thx to those who understand simple S&D- It is nice to know that there are DL fans that aren't uber fanatical in their devotion to the point of being straight up blind. It is sometimes frightening to know that I share a park with some ppl... ones who cannot grasp the simplest concepts.

Yep, this ongoing notion that the prices "aren't fair" is ultimately pointless. Life isn't fair, and Disneyland prices will always reflect what generates maximum profit.
It also seems apparent that people are only concerned when the prices are getting too high for them personally.

If the Disney product were deemed necessary to public health or safety, or fulfilling a survival need, say like... Healthcare or public utilities, then yes, standards of fairness are needed and should be used. Disney is a luxury, no one's life will end simple because a Disney product costs too much for them.
Every Disney fan has one and only one real voice in how Disney presents its products, and that is at the cash register. Fair is a subjective commodity, what seems fair to one, may not be seen as fair to another, and quite often a negoiated definition. Fair in our free market is determined by what people are willing to pay for a product, that's the system we live in here. And, from what I see at the turnstiles, Disney's themepark product is currently popular enough to warrant the current prices. As I and others have said, it is simple economics.
I neither fault nor think that anyone is wrong to voice their opinion, after all I'm doing that right now. After all, it may actually reach Disney's ears and make a difference. I don't think so, but who knows...
Interesting side note: Disney does monitor these fan boards. I know this for sure because my blog logs show hits from inside Disney from another threads I've participated in. Well, I thought it was interesting.
