Excellent trip report and congrats on the time. I should have gotten a PR...I've logged over 1500 miles on my Garmin. Sure, 1495 of those were in the car, but still...

I figured I'm doing at least 5 half marathons this year that I could make this a fun one. As for TR ... soon(ish).
Boynga, I'm still blown away by your time, it's very impressive in a Disney race to set that PR but I guess being in Corral A helps since you don't have a lot of people taking pictures (like me). LOL.
What race was your previous PR in?

Disney puts on a good show but I saw a woman, post-race, who wasn't having such a good time. She was on a golf cart headed to first-aid, I hope. Lip busted open, and road rash scrapes all over her face and legs with a GoPro mounted on her head.
That is a video I'd like to see.
Clinks, going for a PR this weekend? Don't prance around and take photos. Its a RACE
No photo's this weekend. Hoping to beat my PR by at least 5 minutes.

I saw a woman that was admiring the classic cars so much she didn't notice the train tracks. I haven't heard skin slap that hard in a loooong time. I hope she was ok.
I'm pulling for your PR this weekend Clinks. No funny business, go all out on this one. No med tents, inhalers, braces, nothing. Just balls out running.

What's your current PR?
I do have to say, I LOVED the Classic Cars this year. Took what was generally the worst part of the course and gave us something cool to look at. Well, until we got to the new Mustangs. Doesn't count IMO.
I still do need my inhaler this weekend though.![]()

Hey Clinks, thanks bud. To answer your question, my previous PR was this same course from last year (2011 - 1:30:48). It was nice to finally get under after skimming the 1:30 surface twice in the San Francisco half. I am still pretty new to running (I am a swimmer so still awkward on land) so I am looking forward to the next several years.
Not that anyone is interested, but I really sucked when I started running in 2007. Someone mentioned something about it being impossible to "do" a half marathon without training. Anyone can "do" a half without training, it is just a matter of how well they want to do. In 2007 the longest run I did before the race was 2.5 miles. Needless to say, it was a very difficult race and as I was living in the Bay at the time commuting to work via BART and my bike, recovery took about 3 months and was painful. But over the last few things have changed and you would be surprised what you can trick your body into thinking you can do:
2007: 2:18:40
2008: 1:50:57
2009: 1:32:31
2010a: 1:32:03
2010b: 1:31:00
2011: 1:30:48
2012: 1:26:07
So, yeah, I sucked pretty bad when I first started. Just stick with it and don't make excuses.
Red Shirt Guy, impressive bra. I saw you coming up on that last 800m or so and was like, "awww sheesh" - you must have been coming home sub 6min/mile? Around 5:45? I closed in a 6:16 and you passed me like I was strolling. Well done!

LOL ... your "sucky" half marathon is my PR.
Honestly, for me, I started running to lose a few pounds and just fell in love with it. I know I'm not going to break any land-speed records but I would like to get around 2:10 eventually. I did the LA Marathon earlier this year and was about an hour slower than I anticipated (5:54) so my goal next year is to be at 5 hours.
I just love the running community. I've met so many awesome and inspirational people who have lifted me up and pushed me when I've needed it. The runners on MiceChat are no different.
Hope to see you guys back in 2013!!!
