Ditto...I get sad every time I see what Fort Wilderness looks like now, and how it has no function as far as the guests are concerned.

This is true, it is rather sad: but on the flip side, was very glad to see when they took the walls down a year or so back (maybe) that the old pioneer cemetery on back of the island was still there and intact. One of my favorite in-park displays which receives very little guest attention.

Good point! Here are some shots I took there last year. For those of you who haven't explored this area, do so...if you don't spend time visiting and enjoying this stuff, then you can't blame the company for removing these hidden gems!

For me, it would be a toss-up between Carousel of Progress and The Country Bear Jamboree.

The Mine Train Though Nature's Wonderland was one of those attractions you didn't fully appreciate until it was gone. Then again, Carousel of Progress was everything Disneyland (and TomorrowLand in particular) should be.

For those not familiar with the old thread, most of the photos still there even though it's closed: DL Ephemera

New Orleans Square ODV cart selling various candy and nuts, 1980's. Directly across was (at the time) the space of the Gourmet Shop, selling Southern/New Orleans food items and cooking utensils.

There was no ODV space anywhere near the Gourmet Shop (now the Bat en Rouge). You can clearly see the patio dining space of Sara Lee Cafe Orleans behind the cart which places it opposite the former Antiques Shop (now part of Pieces of Eight and currently featuring Jack Skellington/Nightmare merchanise).

The era is correct as the costume was the successor to the light blue polyester dress of the late '70s.

How I miss this attraction as it originally was. The graveyard of lost ships, deep sea fish, mermaids, the giant squid, the sea serpent...it was fantastic, plastic unmoving fish and all.

I agree with you 100% on this. Every time I see pictures on this I go back in time... It was one of the best attractions. The "Finding Nemo" Submarine should be "depth charged" into oblivion! The soundtrack for the original Submarine Voyage is still one of my favorites. I felt that I actually "dived" on the ride (and not led around a kiddie pool with the Nemo obscenity.) Oh well, at least when I visit Disneyland today, I don't have to waste any time in that line. (I can go over and wait in the Matterhorn line where the seats are now set to cripple anyone over 6 feet!)

Entrance tent and tickets/concessions for the Mickey Mouse Club Circus, a very unsuccessful temporary addition to the park (1955 - 1956)


And jumping forward many years: a personal photo showing construction of DCA and Downtown Disney taken from the observation tower/preview center located outside Disneyland.

I cannot believe I left off Nature's Wonderland! The amazement from that attraction lasted a lot longer than the "thrills" one experiences on BTMRR. Here are a few April 1960 Rainbow Ridge Renovation/Construction photos:
