Re: Disneyland Old Photos and Ephemera: The Resurrection

I'm amazed at these photos. One thing that always comes out, the lack of overwhelming crowds, and the style of dress of people who visited. Styles will change, but having class doesn't....unless you visit the park today with sagging pants and underwear..and don't forget the overwhelming crowds.

Thanks for posting these...truly a great thread.

^ Looks pretty advanced for its time. Probably better than the current Innoventions.

Re: Disneyland Old Photos and Ephemera: The Resurrection

Three postcard images from my personal collection:

The former antique/One-Of-A-Kind shop in New Orleans Square. It is now titled 'Port Royal', but previously saw service as Le Bat En Rogue and The Gourmet Shop, each time it changed losing a bit more of unique merchandise till now it is a bizarre hodge-podge of jewelry, generic pirates merchandise, Nightmare Before Christmas items and some Haunted Mansion items shoved in a corner.

Here is a decent modern photo for comparison of the space, but doesn't match the angle entirely: Port Royal | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I rode the Lilly Belle once in the late 90's and again in 2010 I believe. Was an awesome experience.

Re: Disneyland Old Photos and Ephemera: The Resurrection

Coming late to the party here, I love all these older photographs. I'll have to bug my parents now to dig up all their photos from the 80's. I especially love the Tuna Boat and Skull Rock. I wish they could put them back into the park somewhere, if just for the atmosphere.

Me: "Yes. It happened after a recent trip to Neverland."

I kinda like the clock. The rotary dial phone look. The Judy Jetson hair thingamabob is very futuristic too.

Love that Rocket to the Moon photo, and thank you for sharing the Disneyland Today scan, sgtfox!

Here's the Tomorrowland Space Bar, which would be removed in 1966 to be replaced by the spinning Carousel Theater:

Fun fact: the Space Bar served both Coke and Pepsi for a time!

That appears to be a Mark I Monorail above, so I would assume this is anytime between 1959 and 1961.
