I went with masked and quiet. Something about a Hook face character just doesn't sit right with me ... and if you are going to un-mask Hook, don't you need to un-mask Smee too?

Aren't they a sort of dynamic duo? I know hook gets out there on his own alot, but it seems like they are together alot.

(Please forgive me for repeating myself.) I like Smee,
but I think he's as unnecessary a sidekick in Disneyland
as Robin is in Batman in the movies.
Of the seven most recent Batman films,
the two worst were the ones with Robin. I'm not counting the last one
where a police officer was about to become Robin.

If Cruella can roam around Disneyland alone, so can Hook.

If it was up to me, I'd probably make all the human characters into face characters.

Right, their version is obviously not the same as the Disney classic, but the Hook they used was easily recognizable and comparable to Disney's. I'm saying it is an example of what he could look like as a face character, and easily done.

Today (September 19) is "Talk Like a Pirate Day."
So perhaps Disney could just walk around Orange County listening for potential Captain Hooks.

Hook was a face character with live speaking at the Villains Victory Party a few years ago!

That is the Fantasmic Hook and like I said I don't like the looks of the face version to me the face one doesn't look like Hook to me he looks like a caveman. So I'm sticking with the mask verison.

Re: Would Captain Hook be more fun as a face character?

Meeting Universal's Count Dracula was the highlight of our excellent trip to Universal Studios yesterday, which makes me want Disneyland to have even more face characters like WDW's Gaston (on Youtube) and Captain Hook.

    Gaston at WDW:

Like the Phantom Manor (Disneyland Paris' HM), Gaston gains something in French:

And this video by Universal will take three minutes of your life that you'll never get back and might feature some masked characters you've never seen before and will never see again, but I'm adding it because I like hearing Beetlejuice, Groucho, Marilyn & Lucy talk, just as I'd like to hear Captain Hook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxpEv...eature=related

Re: Would Captain Hook be more fun as a face character?

I vote to keep him the same. When I see hook in the parks it really reminds me of the character from Peter Pan. The mad hatter was a good change because of how quirky that character is. Someone mentioned it above but they did try out Captain hook as a face character and he was very odd lol.

I don't know. I like the way he so closely looks to the movie version now, but I also love the interaction that un-masked characters can pull off. Makes it all the more fun. Either for me is alright. But un-masked would be neat.

I voted no but am now reconsidering after reading more posts. If they got the voice and the mannerisms perfect, it would be ok. Not too sure about latex chin and nose. Mad Hatters nose really bothers me. I'm not a big fan of Cruella either. The hair needed to be more wild. . .idk she just bothered me. It's tough translating an out proportioned animated character to real life human dimensions.

I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. In fact, in some shows like Fantasmic and in the Disney ice shows, Hook is a face character. Why not give a shot?
    My top favorite Disneyland attractions:

    1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    2. Pirates of the Caribbean
    3. Splash Mountain
    4. Mad Tea Party
    5. Peter Pan's Flight
    6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
