Just wondering if it ever broke down for a long period of time, how the guests could get out?

You would only have to remove people via boat if the sub is in the outdoor portion of the ride. The inside has catwalks.

assuming it is constructed essentially the way the one at WDW was, there are cat walks all along the show building above the subs on either side. there is a pretty good website out there that has some great info about the WDW ride and pictures of it as it has been dismantled. I also seem to remember reading in mouse tales that cast members get on the walks to play pranks on the sub driver.

Wow, never thought about that! Maybe they have some type of manual tow mechanism that would allow them to tow the sub to the dock. I would assume that in the show bldg there are probably walkways or scaffolds nearby with some type of swing out ramps. As far as in the lagoon, I guess you'd need some type of watercraft to ferry people over to the loading dock if the sub can't be towed. But, if it was me, I 'd say "Please, please let me SWIM to shore!!". Hee Hee. Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to swim in that lagoon!

They have a small motorboat that they can use. I believe that they keep it in the show building.

There were some pictures posted here a while back, maybe a year ago, by a guest who was evacuated from the sub while it was in the show building.
They don't take people out. They force people to watch the Nemo scenes over and over again in an endless loop until the sub is repaired in place. The record is three days of guests being trapped in one of those yellow tin cans watching that film.![]()

Dumbest thing Disney ever did. Just so stupid.

You can't get people out if you are under way. You're 200 fathoms deep!![]()
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.Mark Twain
I've seen two subs stuck for 2-3 hours because of an earthquake, I wondered who and when they were "freed" from the subs.
Found this through google:

It has pictures of the area as they were being evacuated.
OMG... you mean the subs don't really go down?

A song to sing
To help me cope
Trough everything
If you see the wonder

You can take the future
even if you fail...
