Yeah, when they first announced it, they said early summer...
I didn't realize they meant summer of 2013...(if we are lucky).

The good news is that when they do open, it will immediately become one of my must-eat places at the resort. Their sandwiches are soooo good...

I see that wink, but seriously the way it's going that could be true, or we may find out it's opening next week. No telling with the way they are streching this out if they are walking the last miles of the marathon or going to start sprinting to the finish.

I don't think I have ever seen something so simple as a sandwich shop take so long to open especially since they have an existing building to work with and not starting from scratch.

To be fair, they are converting a book store to a restaurant, so there is quite a bit of work to be done with adding kitchen appliances, etc. However, I've seen Disney work many miracles when they're motivated enough. I guess they're not feeling the pressure to move faster. But given the length of time it's taking, I'm betting they've run into either (or both) permit or money issues.

When we were in Downtown Disney last Saturday, there was a blockade around it and signs of what was coming. It looked like an outdoor patio cover was being added. Not sure.

Could it be that they're waiting to ride the coattails of the Holiday season or something? I mean, I get it's a restaurant in Downtown Disney, but if they're going to have a grand opening, might as well do it when people are going to be at the resort and not during the off-season.

Could be. It could of been they wanted to catch some of the summer crowds. It could of been they wanted to catch Halloween crowds. It could be they want to catch Thankgiving or Christmas crowds.

Based on the interior shot that is in todays Dateline Disneyland update, it may be open by then.
