Interesting house. The interior details are pretty tacky, especially the incredibly cheap looking staircases and the dreadful kitchen. I'm sure someone with some imagination will buy the place and fix it up. Nice exterior though!
Only $873,000, I'm in!!!
An odd mix of expensive and cheap-ish materials, finished & unfinished spaces. And it's missing my favorite detail of the HM, it has NO CUPOLA! My guess..the owner ran out of money and can't afford to finish it &/or make the payments. Considering the state of the housing market and the construction industry it wouldn't surprise me.
I've always loved the HM architecture & would love to live in a similar/same style house. But not in Georgia and not without THE CUPOLA!!!! LOL
PS I have nothing against Georgia!! I'm just a California Girl & wouldn't want to live elsewhere.
What perfect timing: I just ordered a Haunted Mansion version of the 'Clue' game, and I can't wait to play it with the nieces and nephews...
I agree with the previous posts: beautifully done exterior, and cheap-ish interior finishes and fixtures. The kitchen is a meeskite (Yiddish folks; look it up...)
Sure, there's no cupola, but it has those keen holes cut between the floors; remove the railing, add a fire pole, and just think how much time you will save when you leave for work!
Of course, I would want to have a pretty extensive Pet Cemetary in the back (well, and the front; you know: just enough to keep the neighborhood children at bay...); I would re-do some of the paint work with lots of wall paper (and you all know what the print would be...), and I would have a vintage hearse parked in the driveway at all times. It would be a blast to decorate (starting off with that kitchen: toss in two sticks of dynamite, wait for the "BOOM", then get to work...)
Best part of living in this house? I would never dust again... EVER!!
I think that's really neat!
For everyone that is complaining about the interior - remember that this dude built the house for himself. It's apparent that the all the interior stuff was built to his liking. I am sure he wanted some sense of practicality, with some added fun here and there (like in the bathroom for example).
That seems...cheap....from what I hear houses in my area are only half that for a normal home...double it for a HM? Sounds like a deal to me
I love this! I wish I had the money to buy it. I wonder what the reason was for not having the cupola, I mean when you're trying to recreate something you do the best you can. I actually like that the inside has that modern touch to it.
I'd try to convince my family to buy this, but it's far away from Disneyland so I'm out.
