For me it's not so much the fact that they're tracking (I mean the whole idea of Big Brother is outright creepy, I feel like Jim Carrey in the Truman Show) but the fact that they think these bands will somehow "enhance" the park experience or make it more convenient or better, that's what gets me. I'm a simpleton in very many respects and Disneyland reminds me of a place from a simpler time. I can't imagine seeing these robotic wristbands everywhere.

Disney Corp should just cut to the chase and RFID their customers' wallets. Since that's what it's all about anyway, they should stop playing coy and get on with suctioning the cash.

I am not sure what the fuss is all about I am sure it won't be mandatory. As far as tracking goes we are all tracked already not like we escape it at Disneyland. (Credit cards, cell phones are the biggest ways)
If they go through with it lets hope the have nice designs at least This potentially could help enforce FP rules that most of us on the boards are for
There's always a balance between privacy and convenience, and companies always wager that consumers are willing to trade the former for the latter.
The only time I think these bands would be brilliant would be for tracking lost children. If your kid wanders off and you can't find them, it would be nice to have something like this.
Otherwise, I honestly don't see how this is even necessary. If you have an AP, Disney already knows about your ride and purchase habits because you use it when you get a FastPass or buy something. If you have a paper ticket Disney still knows a lot about you because you use it to get your FastPasses. Something like this is unecessary, IMHO.
They could always link the Fastpasses to the APs or paper tickets. Disneyland Paris gives out credit-card plastic tickets instead of paper; you could always get one of those and recycle it for every visit.

I don't like juggling all of our park tickets, worrying about keeping them dry, and getting them in and out of purses/wallets all day. Need my ticket? Oh, it's right here on my wrist. BAM! Photopass? Again, right here on my wrist.
Plastic tickets would be nice in terms of getting them wet, but just having my ticket on my wrist so I don't have to keep getting my wallet out would be even better, IMO. I like it all being consolidated. I wouldn't be juggling multiple Fast Passes, park tickets and Photopasses.

I imagine that technology like this could someday enhance individual ride experience. Do you think?
^if only you could vote on things like favorite paths on Star Tours.....or to turn off the Jack Dialogue on the Pirates ride...then that would be pretty cool
Im with you. We had 3 kids and 3 adults and were constantly breaking up into different combinations and each time had to make sure the adults had the corresponding tickets and room keys. One time we split up I had two kids with me but forgot to get one of the girls park ticket so that when we left DL to get into DCA, we were stuck outside of both parks.
I think the Glow Ears are sending back information to Disney Central too.
I'll take a large Tea Cup with a side of Casey Jr. And when will all the construction finally end?
